So I often find myself out looping with just me and a kid or two in the front seat. I've often thought of stopping at a bus stop where folks are waiting and see if anyone would like a ride (baskseat being empty). Wouldn't mind going where they are going, I'm just out for a drive.

I've never done it as the process seems a bit awkward.

Should I just get over it and stop and ask next time?

What about the other side of the story. If you were leaving the boat docks, and you saw an empty backseat, how would you ask for a ride?

It's like I need an "available - just ask for a ride" sign.

Anyone ever ask for or give a ride?

I've never asked for a ride (and probably never would), but a few trips ago, a very nice gentleman driving alone in his golf cart stopped by our bus stop and offered dh, dd and me a ride to the marina. We gladly accepted, thanked him profusely, and were grateful to be able to get there more quickly. I'll always remember that, because it was such a nice thing for him to do!

I think it would be an act of kindness to offer someone a ride in your golf cart.

I didn't think anyone did things like that anymore--given the rate at which people will sue you if anything goes amiss.

I don't think I would hit up someone for a ride, but if offered, I might accept!

I do it all the time if i'm out killing time on the cart. I find the people are vary thankful and sometimes i can help them by answering some ? about the Fort or WDW

Last time at the Fort we got off the bus with a lady who looked wrecked - she holding a sleeping very hot and sweaty baby and dragging a stroller. I felt bad because she looked like she just couldn't take anymore heat, etc.... DH offered her a ride on our cart back to her cabin. She was very grateful. So, yes, I'd definately offer rides - but I wouldn't ask for one. I say go for it!

Back before they closed off the overflow lot, my wife and I would sometimes go park and walk from the Outpost to the Settlement, in the early evening, just to enjoy the Fort and get some exercise. One night, just after we left the Outpost, walking, a couple stopped in their golf cart and offered us a ride. We thought that was so nice that we didn't have the heart to say that we were trying to get some exercise, and accepted the ride. We enjoyed the ride, and then walked back to the Outpost.

There has been a few times we have offered otherws rides,,usually they turn us down.
And once a grandpa/grandma couple was out walking, asked for a ride , which we gave.

You'd have a lot of people accepting an offer of a ride around the holidays I would imagine. To loop around with you for a short while to take in the decorations, would be quite memorable for those who don't frequent the fort. What a treat to see the holidays displays. You may be the subject of a special memory for a visitor, when they repeat the story of the guy that showed them some sites at the fort...he was so nice, friendly and showed us the "best" decorated sites at the fort.:thumbsup2

Me and a friend hitched a ride after the camp ground movie. We just stood on the corner with our thumb out until someone came and picked us up. :)
We were feeling silly and tried to just see if it would work. It did and the couple who gave us a ride back to our cabin was more then willing.
