It was my understanding that you had to have a drivers Lic to drive a golf cart. I guess that disney security turns their head when they see 10 year olds driving golf carts . I also saw allot of overload golf carts. Just a safety observation. What do you think?

Our last couple visits it seemed like security was a bit stricter with the GC rules on ages. We still seen several overloaded carts. I'm sure there are some who still get by. They can't be everywhere all the time.

I have not seen any young children driving but plenty of over loaded carts.

you understand correctly, you are spose to have a drive lie. to operate buggies at the Fort.

and yes, security pretty much sucks for enforcing rules .

We were at the Fort this past week and yes, there was a lack of respect for the rules regarding golf carts. We did see a park ranger on a yellow golf cart taking action, but it seemed the rest of the Fort staff has their blinders on.

One morning when we were there in December we had just pulled out of our space and were just starting to roll when a cart driven by a kid who looked about 10 came full speed around the bend and nearly hit us head on. If I hadn't swerved hard off the road he would have. Not cool.

Last September at about 11:00 p.m. as we were leaving the Meadows pool in our GC a group of five young girls cut us off as they swerved off Big Pine Drive and cut in front of us to head down the hill toward the pool, giggling all the way. The girl driving appeared to be the oldest, she was about 12.

Just seconds later we were on Big Pine Drive heading back to our campsite when the same cart passed us, going full speed, and made a sharp left hand turn into the 1400 loop. The cart went up on two wheels and one of the girls fell out onto the road. They all continued to giggle.

I took down the number of the cart and reported it to Disney Security . . . not sure if anyone ever did anything about it.

It's a serious problem and the irresponsible parents need to be disciplined!

It's frustrating to think that it's these kinds of idiots who cause accidents and then have the gall to sue Disney - and of course Disney settles. It's ridiculous!

We just got back from a quick trip over New Years. Some of the GG drivers were out of control. We saw some being driven by a bunch of drunks and you really had to watch out for them. Saw a few underage drivers but it was better than our last two trips.

The "Powers That Be" at the Fort sound to be very uneven in their application of the "rules". A few tmes it sounds like they enforce the cart rules. More times than not they don't. <of course there have been "incidents" at the Fort > where the PoPo are called in and the case goes into a black hole.......

Rule Enforcement is very uneven. Whether it is carts or tents or Christmas decorations or whatever, the only thing you can count on is the almighty dollar winning out for the Fort Misfit Accounting Department.

The bozos in Corporate will have their day........

PS - we've had two teenagers in the last five years die within a 5-mile circle of my house due to golf carts. one kid was driving in the street and was going down a hill and lost control and it turned over. Another jumped off a moving golf cart and he fell and slammed his head on the pavement.

i'm not sure its just a disney problem.. it seems wherever you camp parents just let kids do whatever they want and operators of campground dont want to make people mad so they dont come back, they look the other way.....disney probably looks the other way unless complaint is made...:confused3

I just returned from two weeks over Christmas. I've been going at Christmas for several years now and I will say they are working alot harder at enforcement as well as safety and overall traffic control.

Some of the things we noticed included
- on busy nights they have traffic control people at the major choke points like the entrance to the path at trails end, the marina, the pool, the main 4-way stop at the entrance
- they blocked off the marina parking all together on new years eve and routed all carts to a parking lot by the backyard bbq
- they stopped my daughter several times asking about her age. I hear the underage complaint alot but in many cases kids look younger and younger at age 16 as we get older and older...
- in the two weeks I was there I didn't see one overloaded cart
