We will not be staying at FW on our next Disney vacation, but we are interested in exploring the resort a little to check it out for a future trip. We would like to rent a golf cart for a day and also check out the campfire program and possibly a hayride. We will be staying at an off site hotel. Will we be allowed to go into FW campground, explore and rent a golf cart, even though we technically won't be 'WDW resort' guests?

You might be able to get into FW but I dont thank you can rent a cart with out a room key. Not sure about the hay ride.

Im not sure if you can rent a cart or not either, but I would bet you CAN...I just cant see Disney passing up the fee if carts are available. I would definately reserve one ahead of time though....give the bike barn a call(thats the name of the place that rents them....they can let you know if you can rent or not, and if you can....it might be smart to reserve it ahead of time...they supposedly run out quickly...although during my stay in early December they had plenty of carts available. The Bike Barn # is 407 824-2742

Thank you for the feedback. I called the Bike Barn today and was able to reserve a cart for a day in July, they didn't ask where we were staying. Just needed my name, address, credit card number to reserve the cart. They said to just bring the credit card, drivers licence and some form of payment when we check in to pick up the cart. The rentals are 1pm through 11am the next day and about $52 with tax. We will be able to drop off the cart when we are done and place the key in a key drop box before going back to our hotel. It sounds like this won't be a problem. They did comment that Fridays tend to book up the fastest with rental carts.

If your renting a cart you should stay for the movie, camp fire, and water parade.

they will ask upon your renting the cart what site you are staying at. There is a place on the rental agreement where that information goes. You might call back and be sure that isn't a requirement. You would hate to get there and they turn you away for not staying there. I would think guests would get first chance at the carts before non guests.
