I just got off the phone with floridagolfcarts.com and was told 3 weeks ago CM's at Fort Wilderness told the driver who was trying to deliver a cart, that if he didn't leave he would be arrested for trespassing! I'm posting this here because I got the number off the banner at the top if the forum!! They actually told mento call Disney to get permission for them to deliver a cart to me from them!!! :headache::mad:

I'm so sorry to hear this. I would contact directly to express your frustration so that it could be avoided in the future.

I understood that Disney stopped allowing the delivery of outside golf carts (rentals) to Fort Wilderness right after 9-11.

If you own your own cart and bring it in on your camper- that's OK.
But they have not allowed outside companies to bring in rentals since 2001.

I coordinated 2 trips with our Boy Scouts to Fort Wilderness. The first was in June 2001, and we rented a golf cart from outside.
The 2nd trip was in June 2007, and we were no longer allowed to do that. We had to pony up the extra cash for a Disney golf cart.

So I am not surprised to hear this news. What I find unfortunate is that the rental companies are not forthcoming with this information, and would actually put the burden on YOU to try to get them in.

It appears the OP was posting it here because they got the number for the company from a banner ad on this forum. There were likely letting us know based on the advise given on the recent podcast where Pete and Walter stayed in the cabins on NYE and rented a golf cart but then (Corey?) discussed renting the golf cart off-site for a lower cost which would be relevant to this forum. Thanks OP, for the info. My friend and I were considering the cabins for our next stay and I wouldn't want to run into the same problem (plus, this is the only forum I ever go to).

they have been allowing outside rentals since 911. This has only happened in the last 3 weeks!

I think this might have been better served over on the camping board. I beleive that FW does have some sort of agreement with outside fenders, they can come to the overflow parking lot but no further. I may stand corrected. This sounds like it may have been just a one time conflict where the CM hasn't heard yet about the agreement. :confused3

All I know is this particular vendor was threatened with arrest. I do know what has been allowed in the past and why I posted this here since the Dis had advertised it on a banner on the home page!

That's good to know. Thanks.

I don't have the name of the company we used in 2001, but when I called them in 2007 to reserve a cart, they did tell us at that time that they were not allowed to deliver in Fort Wilderness (since 9-11) and that we would have to pick it up off property in order to rent from them. They told me it was Disney's policy- so I did not check with other companies.

Glad to hear it is not across the board and some companies may be allowed in.

I got another number so it must be a problem with the vendor! I called Steve Senesi @ 407 947 2013 and he said he is allowed to deliver to your site! $225 plus tax for a week!!
