Hi All,
I switched over to FW in a cabin from CBR. I am driving down to FL, so I will have a car. My question is, is it worth it to also get a golf cart? :confused3 :confused3

You will probably get a lot of different answers, but in my opinion it is worth it and I'm very frugal. :) They're fun and convenient. If not for your whole stay, maybe try it for a day. :thumbsup2

We only lasted 2 days without one - then had to breakdown and rent one. It was just too much extra walking for us and the kids thought it was alot of fun. Well worth it for us.

I think staying in the cabins golf carts are a must..at least they would be for us. We stayed in cabins twice many years ago..both times in August, and frankly using your car to get around FW is pointless. You are limited to where you can drive..to the Meadow Trading post..and there is a 15 minute limit on the amount of time you can park there..not to mention very few parking spots. Unless you are able to bring your own bikes..which is great fun, or rent bikes..the golf carts are a very convenient way to get around the campground and do some exploring. Especially in the warmer months. If money isn't an issue I would reserve one..you could always turn it in if you decided you didn't need it.

We just returned from the Fort this morning(actually left yesterday, then drove straight thru to Houston)

We rented a cart and loved it. Hubby thought it was crazy at first that I was willing to pay that much for it, but by the end of vacation, he saw the light!
It worked out great and I would definitely get one again, even if it meant cutting the budget on a different item. The kids thought it was fun just to ride around on it--and of course my 16 year old loved driving it!!!!

We didn't have a golf cart our first trip but did our 2nd. I recommend it. It's not necessary but it does add to the trip. You can zip to the settlement and the outpost, and take easy rides through the loops. My 16 year old twins had a blast..but only after a very long talk about golf cart etiquette and safety in Fort Wilderness. They did well and we were proud.:)

We had friends in cabins so it came in handy to go between the loops.

OT - Jennifermae - After being stalled on I10 for hours because of a accident near Beumont and roadwork near Vidor trying to get to WDW, we took a long way home and stayed clear of I10. We live near College Station. You have my respect and awe for being able to drive straight through on 10.:scared1:

Back on topic now. Golf carts are great.
