Golf Cart Driving Age????

Is there a minimum age requirement to drive the golf carts? We are going with a group of families which will include 6 teenagers, 11, 8, and 5 year old. I imagine that they would have a riot driving a golf cart around. Would hate to rent one only to find out that they are too young to drive. Disney has quite a few restrictions and twice my younger son has been disappointed to find out that he was too short to do something his older sister was allowed to do.

16 years old is the minimum. I was told if they are caught the cart goes back and no refund. They WILL stop you. I've seen it happen and it is not just the rentals it's personal carts as well. It's because the old one person screwed it up for everybody thing. I see young kids doing it all the time and Disney is putting a stop to it.

Thanks, I was afraid that would be the case so before getting the kids excited about being able to rent golf carts I decided to find out the age requirement. Now I know.

The golf carts are fun to have for all ages. We had one several years ago when we went with 2 sons and my parents. My parents had just as much fun with it as the kids did. My dad couldn't figure out the light button from the horn so at 2am he was honking instead of lighting the path. It was so funny. We still talk about that trip and it was at least 7 years ago.

You must have a valid license because the roads in FW are technically public. Another Disboard member quoted the exact statute a few months ago but they are essentially public roads. I have also been told that drinking and driving isnt tolerated either and can/could result in a DUI.

I for one would like to see a crackdown on underage and reckless driving of the carts. I hate to be a buzzkiller but golf carts are heavy and dangerous and they are not toys. It wasnt too many months ago that someone was killed near our home by one that rolled over.
