We had a golden color room key when we stayed at the Polynesian LVC a week ago. We also had a gold color room key from our December Poly LVC.

When we used the key to charge items, the disney employees acted like thy had never seen one before. We also saw other Poly LVC guests using the regular blue color keys. Just wondering...

We had gold room keys at the AKL last Nov. A few CMs made a comment about the color. We just assumed it was gold because we were concierge guests.

From what I understand, the concierge guests are supposed to have the gold keys. I think sometimes they just use the regular ones, though, depending on what kind they have sitting there at the desk when you check in, lol.

The Gold keys are for VIP & Concierge guests. However, it really mostly depends on what is available.

We've always gotten the gold one's on CL, except on the rare occasions where we've checked in at the front desk rather than directly with teh concierge.

We got gold keys during our two stays on the Concierge Level at the AKL in 2003 and 2004. We checked in on the Concierge level. I believe guests on the Concierge Level without the gold keys checked in outside of the concierge hours.

We've gotten those keys both when staying concierge and when staying in a regular room at both GF and the Polynesian.

We've also gotten the regular keys when staying concierge and checking in at the concierge desk.

We got regular keys at the Polynesian Concierge and Contemporary Tower Club. Never had a gold key. :( At the Polynesian, we checked in at the concierge desk; at the Contemporary, we checked in at the front desk.

You've got company Cali-D. We've never received gold keys for any of our concierge stays. The only time we have gotten them is on the Disney cruise.

We had a gold key when we stayed at the Poly in Nov. I thought it was either because we had concierge access or because we were on the platinum plan. Interesting.

In Feb 05 we stayed WL club level and had a silver color card with tinkerbell on it. was different than our last stay (also WL club level) it was a pink/purple colored card, and the time before that (all star) it was blue.... I just thought it rotated. :confused3

Two weeks ago, we got the regular blue keys when we checked into the concierge at the Wilderness Lodge. But then we got the gold keys when we moved to the Polynesian concierge. No one seemed phased by the gold cards at all when we used them. :scratchin It was nice to see both versions.

We always stay concierge and I can't even remember the color of the room keys, but they haven't been anything extra special...

When you call them "gold" - are they really gold, like shiny gold or just a tannish/light brown color?? We have had some that were a light brown. I wouldn't have called them gold, though.

We have checked in at the front desk and at the concierge desk in 4 different Disney deluxes.

Hmmm.....Disney keeps ya guessing. ;)

How cool! I really hope we get the "gold" cards when we arrive at Polynesian Concierge in just under 2 weeks time. :flower:

I don't know why but I actually recieved a set of gold room keys when I stayed at All-Star Music in 2003. Never figured out why I got them, or why they even had them at the All-Stars.

They are more like a golden yellow color in the background, as opposed to a metallic gold color. The other cards are a light blue color in the background. Both have the castle design on them.

Previous keys were more of a brownish gold, than the current yellowish gold that we have now.

Chances are the resort ran out of the regular keys, and they just ended up using the VIP keys instead.
