Golden Horseshoe - Lunch or Dinner?

Yes, shows are usually during the day (check times online for Laughing Stock) up to late afternoon (looks like currently last show is at 5:15). I agree that the food is nothing special, I'd plan it as more of an afternoon ice cream stop. You also don't have to be eating there to just stop in and watch the show.

FWIW- I do enjoy sharing a nice ice cream sundae with the family here (and lots more seating than Gibson Girl) but I usually try to avoid the show. It's not my favorite...

They have some seasonal ice cream treats/desserts that can be fantastic ... years ago there was a crazy awesome mile high chocolate layer cake, last fall they had some special things that were featured in DisneyFoodBlog, but sadly those specials tend to stay for a season then switch. Read DFB shortly before your trip to see if there's anything that appeals to you in particular a couple of weeks to a month before you go.

We always do lunch but you do need to get there at least 10 minutes before the show starts.
As for the food, My wife and I look forward to the grilled chicken mixed green salad - it's delicious and filling.
My son get the chicken fingers and they are good as well. None of the chicken is fake or processed.

Show times 12:15, 1:00, 2:00, 3:30, 4:30, 5:15 pm. There are three different shows that usually follow this path: Little Town That Could, Bank Robbery, and Cinderella parody. They are usually repeated in the same order. If you want the opportunity to be a participant in one of the shows sit in the front half on the main level, the closer to the stage the better. Little Town That Could selects one adult female and two adult males. Bank robbery selects one adult female, two adult males and either an older child or another adult male. Cinderella parody selects one adult female. Can't guarantee the order as occasionally they switch it up.

The line here for food can get crazy long for the first two shows, as they are during prime lunch times. Check your Disney app for the current menu. The ice cream nachos have not been available for at least the last month.

I think they can get you the items from the stage door cafe. Not positive as we don't eat there. You can buy food at the stage door and bring it in. They also sell corndogs and theirs come with fries unlike the famous stand where they serve chips.

We haven't been to the parks in a couple of years but the GH always had Chicken fingers up to that time. Chances are that if they since they still have the chicken salad, they still have the fingers since that what they use in the salad.
At any rate, as Agamble states, they have them at the SDC.

I don't eat meat so there's nothing on the menu for me....but ice cream! We had the secret menu ice cream nachos there but I have heard that they have since stopped serving them.

I just looked at the menu online, and they don't have the chicken tenders or the fried fish anymore. And while they do have the chicken tenders around the corner at the Stage Door, they don't have the fish. That has been my favorite meal for forever. I am soooooo bummed. Why do they keep getting rid of my favorite stuff everywhere? One more restaurant to take off my list to eat at. The show is ok, but it's not Billy Hill and not worth going to if you don't like the food, imho. The last one we saw lasted 8 minutes and the place was packed. We got there 30 mins before the show and I lurked around people leaving to get a table and my son missed the show because he was still in an incredibly long line for food. No more Golden Horseshoe for us. Sad.

We don't either, which is why it isn't a place we eat. We have had ice cream treats there a few times.

Just an fyi, but we were able to order fish here for dinner yesterday ...they have a little sign up by the registers that shows they are selling it. (Both golden horseshoe and stagedoor)

I miss Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. :(

Oh us too.
Our thing was to fly in and be in the parks by lunch time. Then we would have a nice lunch and thoroughly enjoy the Billes.
The new show just strikes us as creepy and we actually avoid it.

There recently was a change to the menu. The chicken strips aren't sold there any more. You must go to stage door cafe to get them and bring them back. The mozzarella sticks are gone from Stage Door Cafe! I didn't like that either. I did left a comment and I am backing it up with another online to Disney. If they wanted wings on the menu, add them, but don't take the strips off the menu. By the time I got the meals from both place, my food was cold. Not good.

Hmm!
I've been doing some research for places for meals etc and definitely think that Golden Horseshoe is a dessert/snack destination.
I'm planning to drop in in the afternoon to catch a show and get a Root Beer float and hide from the heat haha!
