Hi everyone! :wizard:

I have been getting a lot of questions in VMK on how I received my Gold Star Reward Pin, and why I received it. I have been playing VMK for a very long time like most of us on this board, and I have always been a helpeful VMKer. I always go out of my way to help a friend, or anyone at all in the game who needs help. There was one situation, in a host game room, where a VMKer was having a problem playing the host game, and did not understand how to get through a Space Mountain ride door. I helped the VMKer get through the door by explaining to them how to do it, and giving them some tips on how to do it in the easiest way. The host witnessed this, and asked the other VMK staff if they felt I deserved this award. I then received the award, and I was told that all of the staff that was asked agreed I did. This is how I was awarded the Gold Star Reward Pin. On another VMK fan site there was a post about getting the reward pin for helping out in a host room. I was not helping run a host room, but instead helping out a fellow VMKer in distress inside a host room. I just thought I should explain how I received the award since I always get many questions in VMK about it. I hope this information helps, and have a magical day!

Also, be sure to get in the VMK green mood by stopping by my brand new Lucky Clover Spin game for a chance to test your luck and win some green! If I am not in your friend's list on VMK just search for ShoreBoy when your on, and if I have the game open come in and try your luck! :thumbsup2

Wow that seems neat that all you had to do was a good deed in the host room. Too bad VMK doesnt have a way to recognize the thousands of good deeds that go on outside of a host room everyday. I guess if I want to add that pin to my collection, I will have to start following the hosts around.

Congrats Shoreboy on getting the elusive "Gold Star" pin

Sounds like a job for the Staff Stalkers!

Hi everyone! :wizard:

It has nothing to do with staff following or staff stalking. I just happen to be in a host room, and I helped someone who didn't understand what to do. The staff also told me that this was not the only situation that they knew of, and they thought I deserved the Gold Reward Pin. Honestly, I think it is not very nice and it upsets me for people to say stuff like staff stalkers, because I help everyone who needs help in VMK whenever I can. I try hard to be a good VMKer, and I honestly was so happy to receive this award. It was not because I was following staff or stalking them. If you think that is why I got this reward then you should try to do that, and see if you get the reward. That is definitly not how someone is awarded this reward. I hope you all know that. Have fun playing VMK, and help others whenever you can. That is the true way to be rewarded. Have a magical day everyone! :)

I didn't say you were a staff stalker. I quoted someone else when he said this:
I guess if I want to add that pin to my collection, I will have to start following the hosts around.
And I made the joke about Staff Stalkers. Goodness, it wasn't anything personal.

Don't take it personally, most of us will never be helping someone with any staff nearby, which is why I was against this pin in the first place. You are one of a very select few to own this pin. Expect the "Staff Stalker" jokes, you're sure to hear them often. I'm sure it wasn't meant as a personal attack against you. More an opinion about the whole selection process.

First off my post was meant in a congratulatory tone.

Second it seems that only a select group are allowed to hang out in the staff rooms while others are told to "hurry up and leave" so other people can get in the room. So again my post was meant very simply to congratulate you

Third By your own admission "It was not the first time staff had heard of you doing good deeds" That confirms my initial fears about the gold star being given to people that hang around or have a lot of contact with staff

Fourth As i stated in my original posts "Good deeds are done all the time every day by lots of people" I believe that is the true essence of Disney and will continue to help others

Fifth I will not let this become a grudge thread on my part. I reiterate that I was congratulating you. If you have any questions about how i meant something feel, free to ask me rather than just make an assumption

I have a quick question, I see where people say search for me on vmk and give their usernames, but how exactly do you find them?

Thx

Congratulations ShoreBoy on your pin!

But I have to say, I do not like the idea of this pin. I have seen numerous RAOK throughout VMK, but these people will never be awarded that pin. Honestly, that was never their intention to be. They have done it from the start of VMK. But again you have to be at the right place and time, which to me is not right. (Which of course leads to Staff Stalker comments.) I think we should be the ones to nominate people to this award and have to provide evidence of that fact for the staff to review and confirm. Right now I could name at least 5 people who deserve this pin.

How many others have been awarded that pin? I bet not to many, because I do not see staff anywhere else except in host games. Not like it used to be when VMK opened.

I think that would be a great idea. I can think of a few people to nominate as well. If I were a host or staff I'd want input from the players since they're able to move freely around the kingdom and see what's going on. Even if instead of the pin the reward was a random amount of credits or some small item just to say "We appreciate your kindness to other players." I bet it would encourage further kind behavior.

Congrats Shore Boy on your pin! :)

Congrats Shoreboy...

Although I do not think you personally were stalking or anything other than just helping out and got caught by the right people - I do think that this could lead to stalking of staff by some- because they want to be seen doing a good deed

I like DisV's idea of having people nominate and provide evidence- by say- sending a contact us message with "in this instance of this room this person was being helpful to other players on this date" that way they can go back and look at the action and make note of the person's name- if xx number of nominations for different helpful behaviors occur then they award the player with the award...

They could also still do some "spot" awards where they witness something and award the players- but I like the idea of everyone being able to participate- I also know several very deserving players

Hi everyone! :wizard:

I just wanted to say that I wasn't awarded this recently. In case anyone thought that. I was awarded this reward last year. I just wanted to clear that up if there was any confusion on that. I didn't know if people thought I got this reward recently. Also, the reward wasn't based off of one incident, but was based off of other things as well. Hope everyone has a magical night!

Hiya Shore!

I remember the night you helped out in the Host room (gosh that was a long time ago huh?). That was the first time we met. Not only did you help out in the host room but again in the exit room you were there giving everyone a big congrats on their wins (something that staff were not aware of but I was there.. I know). Anytime I am in a room and for some reason or another Hosts or others have not been there and you happen to walk in your there to help out. And the trivia you do always makes my day. Still waiting to someday win a prize but happy to see that you are an honest player who not only puts in his time but selfishy gives away his own items for prizes while people are waiting for staff to return. You make the game more enjoyable each and everyday and if it were up to me then I would award you a pin :D I for one am so happy Hula was able to award you that pin. And I think Hula would be more than a bit upset with anyone who thought that she gave it to him for being a "Host stalker".

Lots of people have helped out in VMK wether in a staff room or not. I have been asked many times to help out by staff myself. Anytime I find someone confussed or stuck in the game I take that extra moment to lend a hand. Do I do it for the pin? Nope. Does anyone acctually sit there and think "oh wow if I help this person I will get a pin?" No.. well at least I hope they dont. Many of us lend a hand bc we remember what it was like to be new. We remember what it felt like to stand there and feel stupid while we asked for help and watched people walk by not saying a word. Thats exactly what Shore did that night and many other times. He had no idea staff had decided to give him that pin until later.

I do wish that staff could have given out more pins/prizes for the countless amount of people who help out in the game. But did you really help for a prize anyways? Do you remember what it felt like when you were new to have someone stop and help you out with your question and when you said "Thanks so much!" how much you really meant it? So the next time you stop and lend a hand, just remember that "Thanks!" you get was really meant by that person wether it comes from a staff member or a new guest.

To all of you (and definately for Shore) who were awarded pins CONGRATS! You earned them! Thanks for making VMK better! Wear those pins with pride bc there is not one staff that I know of that would ever give out that pin to anyone for being a "host stalker"

And I think Hula would be more than a bit upset with anyone who thought that she gave it to him for being a "Host stalker".
NO ONE here called him a host or staff stalker. I made it as a joke (and not even a joke at Shore, it was a joke regarding a comment someone else made), then it was made into something more than it was intended to be, I clarified it and then others came in and said how an award like this could potentially lead to staff stalking. Again, NO ONE here called him a host or staff stalker. So would Hula be a bit more than upset? I doubt it, because she would probably read our posts and realize that we weren't calling him that.

What we are saying is that without a nomination process, this has a potential to be abused by staff stalkers...and there ARE people like that out there. No said Shore did that, in fact people are congratulating him.

What is a staff stalker?

Is it someone, who every time you go into a host room is sitting there next to them?
Let define it before we label someone.

I would use the that statement: If you go into a host room and the same person is always sitting next to them, then they are a stalker. Also, if the average person gets booted from a host room and that person is allowed to stay for the entire time, then they are a stalker.
