Hi there! I have had the good fortune of coming across and extra full set of "gold retro furnish". I only started VMK in March of 2007 and I am a little confused by this one. Some have said it was exclusive to DLR for 50th anniversary while others have said it was a prize you won online from hidden mickeys to be redeemed in park. I am wondering what the real story is behind this set (card)is and what is it's worth? Do they still hand this card out somewhere like the NEMO sub card, penny press or magic mirror card? Thanks for any info - and for clearing up my confusion!!! :)

While I'm at it, I also was wondering if anyone could tell me the history on the retro furnish in general. I have been able to collect all but the red and blue number generators - do they exist? Where did the other pieces come from in various colors (emporium?) Thanks!

Hi,

The card was given out as a reward for turning in the completed hidden mickey quest done at home and redeemed in park. I turned several in way back at WDW. The card is retired and no longer obtainable and I believe the VMK site lists it as retired. I have found that the gold furniture holds it's value well. I usually get better trades trading the pieces as individuals rather then a complete set. Other retro furniture someone else will have to help I am not as knowledgeable on it.

the Gold Retro set was available at both Parks and for a time, you got a printout to take to the park with you to get one from the first Hidden Mickey, then when that went away, the parks just started giving them out willy nilly.

Do not have a "history" of retro, but the Red Generator is beta and the Blue Generator was only given out last year during the room makeovers, there are maybe 10-12 of them in VMK total. But red ones are not so rare that you trade infernos for them. The red ones actually are considered re-released beta since they were available in a VMK quest for a few dats here and there.

VMK has changed up the colors in the Emporium a couple of times, and released almost all of it in quest form (except that pesky Blue Generator) before that it was all considered "beta"

The only person rumored to have a blue generator is ned, and I asked him recently if he could verify it and he couldnt ROFL. He said he would have to look. If Ned doesnt have it, then I dont think there are any others out there. (I know about the room maker rumors, I can't substantiate them, in fact I actually expect them to be false)

The red scoreboard and turnstile were beta. but came back for christmas 05 for a while before being retired. The generator was not beta, but was retired along with the scoreboard and turnstile. the red penny press was and is once again a buy option at DLR. (was at WDW also).

The gold set was covered pretty well by the others, but an interesting fact about it. For a long period the gold set gave a regular rope divider, not always the gold rope. It is the most rare piece of the gold set because of that ;)

The other color furniture not mentioned doesn't have a real lot of significance.

Although the gold set was the prize for completing the Hidden Mickey quest later on, that was not how it was first released. It was originally one of the prizes that was given to players who took the VMK tour at the park.

Last month, wasn't the "Main Street prize pack" or whatever it was called all of the blue retro furniture including the generator?

Yes, blue retro furniture but no generator in the package. Trust me more people would have been hanging out there. :)

Yes, I received the gold set for completing the VMK Tour when the prizes
were Haunted Mansion quest.
