I did peak in the trash can closest to me as my husband was on my phone and told me too when I mentioned ppl were throwing them away but there was yucky stuff on top and I did not want to dig around in there LOL, next time I will take some gloves with me to do the job

Ok, I have plans this weekend. But I'm thinking I'll be taking a road trip next Friday after work. Hmm, 8 hour drive, sleep a little, then stake out a spot next to the nearest trash can by Monsters Inc. Get my little card board sign, "Cards for the VMK poor"

Seriously I wonder how long the cards will last if they just hand them out to everyone?

Ok, my head is spinning with more plans here. The weekend of Feb 11, I'm supposed to go to Las Vegas for a friend's wedding. I was going to fly, but now if I drive, I can take a detour through Anaheim. That's an awful long drive though....Maybe a layover in Anaheim??

Welcome to the new club....Dumpster Diving Diva's...........Yes I'm proud to say "I went there!"
After reading the post early this morning, I adjusted my "to do" list and put DCA on the top spot.......groceries, banking and house cleaning can wait can't they??
Anyway...off I went to DCA while the kids were in school. That was another dilemma, go now while they are in school or wait until they get out? but because we had plans for the evening, I knew they would give me grief if we only went for 2 hours and I really didn't want to go there. So I head into DCA, straight to Monster's, did not stop for Churro's or even pin trading, so you know I was on a serious mission. The wait was 40 minutes at 10:30am, so in I went. The castmember was standing just outside the line and handing every guest a card. So I of course asked for 2 additional cards, which she gave me. So then you see a full queue line of people standing around and some reading this "thing" that was handed them. Some just shoved them into their strollers, pockets, bags, whatever without even looking at it. I have now discovered that it is very hard to explain VMK to someone who has no idea what it is, without it sounding really bizarre.
Well I decided not to ride the ride (since we've gone on it quite a few times over the last month) and I went back out. That is when I spotted someone toss a few into the trashcan near the exit. Without a second thought I flipped that trash can open and there they were right on top, luckily it was full so I did not have to reach in at all- 4 new door cards waiting for a new home.
I truly hope they stop giving them to everyone and only give them to those who ask or show interest....what a complete waste. And because you have to tear your card off of the rest of the paper flyer, it is not as "pretty" as the other cards and has a cheap dotted torn look all around. I may cut my other ones out.
So that is how my morning went...Good luck to those who venture out to do the same!

When I went today they were asking people if they knew about VMK before giving them a card. Most people in line did not take them. I actually went back later and asked the CM giving out cards for a couple more. He actually gave me 4 more... LOL Didn't ask how long they were going to be giving out cards.

Noticed that the Monsters Inc. link on the VMK web page has been updated. It now mentions the Gold doors and does say while supplies last...

Ok all, after receving so much feed back about not trash diving I took the plunge today. You would all be so proud! I actually found about 10 in the trash the first time in line. The second time I only found 2 but I wish I had my camera with me to document the occassion! LOL. My husband decided to pretend that he was not with me LOL.
Anway, I managed to get a fair amount of cards and decided to host a contest on Dis board. The prizes of course will be GOLD DOORS! Stay tuned... I will post the details and everything on a seperate thread this week!

Ok all, after receving so much feed back about not trash diving I took the plunge today. You would all be so proud! I actually found about 10 in the trash the first time in line.

I went today and you would think that the cards came out of the cast member's personal bank account! I asked for one, as she clearly was not going to just hand one to me, and she said, "Do all of you play VMK?" All in attendance had VMK accounts but geesh! As we were leaving, there was a different cast member handing them out to everyone. I sure wish I could have been trashcan diving then. Can you believe the children actually wanted to go on more rides????

On a side note, there are mirrors again at the magic shop. I got my nephew a self-inflating whoopie cushion and we have just had so much fun with it tonight!!

On another side note, the prize pack for completing all 4 quests basically sucks, so if you can wait to redeem your prizes, I suggest that you do. No pirate stuff for me today! Ugh!
