Going without the kids?!?!

In the 15 plus years we have been married we have the rare opportunity of having a live in babysitter for next couple of months (my adult daughter who is interning in the local area). Since we been married all trips have been with the kids with the exception of 1 night!!!

Instead of going to the carribbean mini vacation we are really thinking Walt Disney World. I can sit a the pool for all of an 1/2 day- not 4 days...

Our budget is tight so we would probably pick a value (maybe a moderate).

Would this be weird? Do values have king/queen beds? Would it be too loud. We don't need to rush. Which resort has a great pool scene. Any suggestions for "adult events"? We bot are kids at heart

I had to do this as budget minded as possible, and we decided to stay on site for the first time ever to avoid having to rent a car, etc. which we usually do when we go with the kids.

I had to do this as budget minded as possible, and we decided to stay on site for the first time ever to avoid having to rent a car, etc. which we usually do when we go with the kids.

I don't think it's weird for you to do it at all. I'll be watching to see what other advice/info you get.

We loved the Disney Transportation when we took it the last time. It can be a little bit annoying at night if things are PACKED but the savings and not having to worry about a car is awesome. Have a great trip! Do you have any special activities planned?

You can request a king bed at the values. It is just a request, but it is usually honored since it is not a regular request. Disneyworld is awesome for adults. . .you will love your adults only trip. . .yay.

3yrs ago my DW and I have a no kids trip it was great we did miss the kids from time to time but 2 can move much quicker than a group we seemed to get so much done in short amounts of time.

My sister and I will be on a no kids Disney World trip in September, as we did last year, and a few times before that. It is great, relaxing and fun.

We did a 10year anniversary with NO kids. We rented DVC points and stayed Deluxe about the cost of a value. We picked SSRS, we felt like it was more adult oriented. We eventually bought into the DVC, we rented points so much. We had a great time. Hope you do too.

We have our first trip without kids in 15 years scheduled for late Sept/early Oct this fall. We are staying at Pop and took advantage of free dining. We chose to upgrade to deluxe dining instead of a moderate resort to take advantage of the signature resturants as well as use our snack credits at the Food and Wine Festival.

The wife and I are also doing our 1st "no kids" Disney trip this Oct for the F&W festival. We are booked at the Dolphin Resort which will be another 1st (staying in a NON Disney owned resort) which means no Dining plan. But we wanted to stay within walking distance to Epcot and I won't spend $400+ a night for BC or BW. We can't wait!!

Booked a trip for my mother and me during Food and Wine Festival - nervous about flying but looking forward to seeing adult stuff at Disney without any complaints from DS.

You could probably rent DVC points for a studio for the same price as a moderate and stay at BWV. No king bed though.

I know for a fact WDW will be amazing on our trip in October to POR. Theres so many wonderful things to do in WDW that i think arent for the kids.

Fun times, no kids!!

The first trip DH and I took together was without our son. We had an amazing time. We took him then for his first trip the next time we went.

I totally recommend a no- kids Disney trip! If it's in your budget, try to fit one of the upscale restaurants like California grill or Jiko (whatever food you like), and have a real date experience. It's also nice to see the parks at your pace, not trying to please the kids. Another grown-up perk of staying on site is not worrying about drinking and driving because Disney Transportation will get you back to your room. Even if you're staying at a value, you can spend time visiting the deluxe resorts for lunch or just the ambiance during the really busy park hours.

Traveling without the kids is the best. Don't get me wrong I love them to death but sometimes you need some peace and quiet. Disneyland is another experience without kids!

We went to WDW without the kids for our 10th anniversary, and we're hoping to do it again next year for our 15th. It was so much fun, and such a different trip!

January 2010 took a Adult Girls ONLY Week at the Old Key West Resort. Bought a 4 day park-hopper and only went to the parks at night. Spent the day at the pool.

This January planning to stay at Boardwalk Villas for a week but not buying park tickets. Want to just lay around at the pool and enjoy the relaxation.

We want to spend some time around the pool and enjoy the dining service. Along with seeing some attractions, shows that we normally wouldn't do with the kids. We can poke around the shops more too without nagging kids.

no matter the destination couples should take a vacation/second honeymoon without the kids once in a while. it's to easy in our busy lives to forget about being part of a couple and not just mom and dad. my husband and i have taken disney vacations without the kids and my sister and i have gone without our kids. it's such a different vacation depending on who you go with believe me lol. my husband and i approach it like a honeymoon and it's relaxing, playful, and great food. when my sister and i go it's like a nonstop combo of acting like a kid riding rides, eating great food, and acting like it's a bachlorette party. so take 2 minutes to have mom guilt if you need to but go go go.

When talking about the Casey Anthony case our local talk radio hostess (on Boston's Talk Station -WROR) stated it is "creepy" when adults go to Disneyland/world without the kids. I quickly turned the radio over! Ugh!!!

My wife and I are going for the 3rd time on our own for our up coming 15th anniversary! (we haven't deprived our 2 boys both have been down to WDW 3 times in the last 7 years)Nobody questions going to Vegas or a cruise without kids but people look at you funny if you mention WDW. Just goes to show you that not everybody values the same thing.

Go! Enjoy your trip and remember you are building your marriage so it's good for your kids in the long run.
