I'm so glad I found this thread!
I'm a FL native and my family did WDW every year starting the year it opened (I was 11 or so). I continued to go to WDW as a single adult.
Then - when I'm expecting our 2nd child, DH says he wants to go to WDW because he's never been. I said "what fun will I have being 5 mo pregnant and hanging out with a 17m old child?" I went anyway and told him never again until our youngest was 40" tall and could do the rides, LOL. In 2005-2006 we went 4 times with the kids.
So - now our oldest is 8, youngest is 6 - and I haven't had more than a few hours to myself since I became a Mom (no regrets, just sayin', LOL), and I was planning a trip in January as a family when it occured to me to ask my FIL and his wife to stay with the kids while DH and I do WDW alone. My FIL and his wife love to travel and come to Florida in the winter anyway, and this way they can stay in our house and not have to rent. Our kids only see them once a year and it would work out perfectly.
I used to wonder why people honeymooned at WDW - I thought it was because they were too poor to go anywhere "exciting" - but now I realize it's because they can HAVE FUN! LOL
DH and I are thinking of the money we'll save by not having to rent a double stroller ($50 and up) cuz the kids get tired walking, and we won't have to shell out for the Neverland Club ($80), and we save by not having to buy the
DDP for them ($20 per day) and not buying park tickets for them. We won't be next in line for Soarin' and have DS say "I'm not getting on!!" - nor will we be in line and have one of the kids have to go potty when we just walked by the bathroom and they didn't have to go. We can eat dinner in peace, go where we want, ride whatever rides we want - TOGETHER - as many times as we want, stay up late, not miss the fireworks due to potty breaks, listen to kids fight over what ride they want to go on next, keeping an eye on them at all times, etc.
I've mentioned it to the kids and they are fine with it. The thought of having their grandparents here for the week is pretty exciting to them too.

Just got to get FIL and his wife to say "Yes"!! LOL
I know I will miss them greatly but they will be having fun and so will we.
