Going with just hubby

We have a lot in common~We are in Middle TN, DD9, and DS4, so close in age. We will also be going for our TEN year anniversary, too! :goodvibes Never been to Disney on New Years Eve, but I bet it will be a blast! I hope you two have a wonderful time! Which resort will you be staying at?

I havent chosen a resort yet,we just decided last night.Disney beat out Vegas. We have been to wdw once and on two Disney cruises.I need to update my provile also, just add a year to everyone listed. The last wdw vacation we stayed at the carribean beach resort.Im going to look into the dvc forum today about rentals.

The first time my dh and i are going without our boys...I'm afraid i wont know what to do with ourselves...What kind of things did you do with your spouse in WDW without the kids????

:3dglasses First let me admit (I don't have children) so I may be to some seeing through rose colored glasses.
I say just let loose and do WHATEVER you want. Shop, ride, plan wonderful meals, be lazy,be active, be yourself.
My DH and I have been going every year for the last 6 yrs and yeah sometimes it gets very familiar doing the same things but, IT IS DISNEY! We have a great relaxing time. I shop, he plans california grill, Le Cellier, Artists Point, I shop:rotfl: , he rides the rides (so do I) and we see shows...Fantasmic,comedy club:laughing: ...fireworks,parades, go to DTD and see a movie. We have gone to KSC (I admit I didn't enjoy but, he loved it) go on tours, ride the monorail and visit other resorts.
Okay I'll shut up now as long as you promise to ENJOY the magic:wizard: .

Dizzygal~This is exactly what I plan to do: LET LOOSE, and enjoy myself! I will admit I am nervous for two reasons: I have never been on a plane, and I have never been away from my kids for more than two nights. BUT, this vaca has been a long time coming for DH and I. It is nice hearing from others who are doing a trip like this, too. :cool1:

the best trips we have ever had were without the kids:lmao: We really have more time to enjoy all the stuff the kids don't care for, like World Showcase and shows. these trips are so relaxing and slow paced. Meals are a dream:cloud9:

Segway, Segway, Segway!!
And if you have the Disney Visa you get a nice discount.
Book early as it tends to fill up fast.

Well my dh and I have been married for 32 years. When our boys were growing up we always took them to DL. However in 1999 we discovered DW and we fell in love with it like we were kids. Now we go every year and personally I can't wait for our next trip. We go in the "value season" (the first week in Feb). The aren't hardly any crowds, no waits, weather is great and we always stay at POR. We eat on the DDP so we eat like kings. We ride all the rides (we have to take pictures to prove this LOL). People are constantly saying to us "why do always go there?". They don't get it.

Just think when you do go without your children you to can ride the rides you want to (you might be surprised how you want to ride the childrens rides), you can eat at the places you want with out wiping anyones hands & faces, and you make lots of new memories. One thing is for sure---when you leave DW you will comment on how you can't wait to bring the kids next time.

We do continue to go to DL but now it is with our grandchildren. When our grandchildren turn 4 we take just them to DL for a very special birthday celebration. This year alone we will be taking a trip to DL in the beginning of Dec. and another one at the end of January. Oh yes we will be at DW in Feb, I am so excited--- I finally get to disney at Christmas. LOL

Oh yeah---because of our trips to DL we do have to cut our trip to DW from 12 days to 11 days. LOL

DH and I are going next month to celebrate our 10th (long weekend). My DD5 knows where we're going. And at first, she said we couldn't go without her. But once I told her we'd bring her something back, she was okay with it. She's excited to spend the entire weekend withh her grandma and grandpa. DS2 doesn't really understand. He'll just be glad to have the whole weekend with grandpa.

DH did say that he thinks it will be weird to be in MK without the kids. I don't agree. I'm looking forward to walking around and just taking it all in. I'm going to linger in the shops, take lots of pictures and just enjoy myself, without being hurried to ride this or see that. Not that I don't enjoy being there with my kids--that is the best. But I am going to enjoy being able to do what I want to do.

DH is looking forward to lying around CBR on the beach and in the hammocks.

So, we are doing only one day at MK and then one day to relax at the resort. And I've planned an anniversary dinner at California Grill for our first night there.

Honestly, I will miss my kids, regardless of where we go.

Our trip in September will be for our 20th Anniversary! This is like the 5th time without the kids. They're teenagers now and one's headed to college and the other has a boyfriend that she can't live without :sad2: so we're going and enjoying ourselves! We just take our time in the parks.....eat at our favorite restraunts....afternoon naps....adult drinks! Today for my birthday he suprised me with Cirque tickets {this alone would have cost a bundle with the kids}. Go and enjoy yourself and just remember that the best things aren't planned, they just sort of happen!

It is nice to go without kids once in a while. You will have a great time. Enjoy
P.S. did you tell them at CG that you are celebrating your anniversary and ask for a window seat?

The DH and I are going by ourselves in September....we cannot wait!!! Jellyrolls is a must, as is the California Grill! The rest of the time we plan on riding rides, taking pictures with the big cheese himself, and RELAXING!!!

I think anything you do together should be great, don't you agree?

I told the CM who made my ADR, but she just suggested I show up really early for my ressie.

I tried to move my ADRs up and that CM was much more helpful, but there wasn't any availability.

Now, the CM who made my CBR reservation noted it on our reservation (it was even listed on our confirmation).

My husband and I have a short trip planned from 9/12-9/16 and like so many of you we're leaving our babies behind. Our girls are 9 and 2yrs old. We just had our family vacation in May where not only did the girls have us but grandma and aunt Laina too. We were there for 10 nights and we all had a blast so much so that whenever our 9yr old hears us talk about our getaway she pouts. We plann to bring the girls souvineers and we know the girls will have the time of their lives being spoiled by auntie Laina.

Since this will be a vacation celebrating both of our 30th birthdays and our 5th wedding aniversary(everything really happens in September) we have a few special plans on how we're gonna spend our time. We have ADR's at Ohana's, Chefs De France and California Grille. I plan to enjoy stolling down Main St. and visiting each country in the World Showcase without hearing that one of my girls has to go potty AGAIN! No diaper bags, no whining about how hot and tired they are. I just plan on soaking this all in, we might not get this again for a loooong time. But who knows...maybe this is a start to a new couples only tradition.

COngratulaitons! I hope you have a great time. Did you let them know you are celebrating both birthdays and an anniversary? We did that our last trip however we were both turning 50 and celebrating 32 years of marriage.
Have fun making lots of new memories.

Subscribing! My first trip ever to the World will be with just DH in January, for my birthday! Whoo hoo! Would love some ideas!

Hubby and I have been married 20 yrs (last weds) and have never been away without the kids in the past 15 yrs. Not even for a weekend. We're taking the kids to Disney for Christmas and I'd like at least an *alone* evening just the two of us. Any suggestions what we could do, he doesnt want to see cirque de soleil, any other ideas? I'm a Disney kid at heart but he's not really into it i'd love for us to be at Disney for a week just the two of us but I cant see that happening :(

I just subscribed to this thread. Dh and I are staying at CBR for a week in December. It's our first trip back to WDW in a long time, and after 28 yrs. of marriage and raising 3 kids, it's our first trip with just us....anywhere! :woohoo:

DH and I like to go to the F&W Festival w/o our 3 children. We can dine at nice restaurants, ride the bigger rides together, take our time and enjoy ourselves.
We spend most of our time at Epcot but also at MGM. We went to MNSSHP last year but only stayed a short time. AK is a short experience also ~ we ride Expedition Everest a couple of times and leave.

We let our children know that we going for the F&W Festival. They don't mind so much at that point.

What are the slushies I read about earlier?? We love to eat and drink our way around the world at Epcot.
