Just for the weekend but that's okay!

As some of you know I lost my FAVORITE job a couple of weeks ago at a Senior Retirement community. I LOVED that job, sweet people, a good sense of self.... but alas it was temporary and it ended... :(

Well, one of the residents called and told me they had a meeting this week discussing the staff at the center and how "unfriendly" they were. Several of them brought up my dismissal. She said "when Robin left, all of the SMILES left, too..." :(

They have formed a resident council and have sents letters to the President of the company.

I thanked her but don't believe I will return to the company. I actually intend to return to my original career (Radio) but was so thrilled that they cared.

Welllll, I got a call from the company asking me to help promote the company this weekend at a local festival. I turned it down because I had prior engagements. The executive director called me yesterday and begged me to come (with DOLLAR SIGNS!!) and put me on speakerphone. The whole place was woooHOOOing and jumping for joy when I accepted!

Well, it's only for the weekend but I will be so thrilled to see my old friends! :wave2:

Robin, I really think that place is your true calling. Don't rule it out, o.k.? I know you want to get back into radio, but something about the old folks home and you just jumped out at me as a perfect fit. I have good vibes about it.

Have a GREAT weekend cuz! :)

:bounce: Glad to hear that Robin. Sounds like "the force" is with you;)

Robin, you really did seem to LOVE that job! Who knows what the future holds! Maybe there's an opportunity there?

Enjoy your time with all your friends and count up all the smiles while you're working. Sometimes the smiles are worth more than the $$.

I didn't know that you lost your job at the retirement community. :(

I hope that this weekend job leads to full time employment with them. Obviously, they have a great deal of respect for you.

Good luck!

wow, isn't it great to be loved!!!! Have a really great time this weekend!

Wow! Robin! My grandmother lives in a retirement center and I can just imagine what life & happiness you brought to those residents.
I'm with Snoopy on this one. Touching lives the way you do is a gift. Radio might be the part you are talented at but your gift, your calling may be different. I am happy that you are going to see your old friends and be a part of their lives this weekend. I bet you'll get hugged til you can't stand it!!! :p

Enjoy!!

<font color=navy>I agree with Snoopy and Brenda.

Whatever happens, though. Have a great weekend, and may it bring you memories full of smiles. :)

This is wonderful. It's a testament to your character that these residents fought so hard for your return. Have a great weekend.

Robin, my mom is now in an assisted living facility, and while I have to say that most of the people who work there are very kind and caring, there are a few who stand out as being extra special. It sounds like you are one of those "extra special" people.

I believe that it is gift that not everyone possesses, being able to work with the elderly. I pray every day for kind, caring workers where my mom lives now. So if they offer you something more permanent, don't rule it out.

You must be a wonderful person, I would love to be able to meet you someday in person, I'm always so impressed with your posts!

God Bless, Mercy

Cool. I hope you have a great time!

Robin.... your eyes light up when you talk about that place and the people there. Maybe you can find a way to combine both careers. if anyone can it would be you.

Robin, did you have a good time last weekend?

Wow! I was surprised to see this on the first page!

The answer YES! I sat out in a booth promoting the village but snuck away to see my friends! I spent about an hour just hugging and laughing!

Thanks, it was a wonderful weekend!
