So DH and I are currently planning on starting a family soon. As we will be activating our APs in December and hope to get 3 trips on them there is a very good chance I will be making one or more trips while pregnant. Anyone have any tips on going to WDW while pregnant? Did you find it easier during the 1st or 2nd trimester? And if everything goes as planned we'll be the people there next December with a 3 month old. :scared1:

Hi there,

I've done it twice :-). Both around 20-22 weeks along. For me, the second trimester was always the easiest mentally and physically; you're past morning sickness and hormone rushes but you are not in the home stretch where you are large and tired and uncomfortable. For me, 2nd trimester was winter time, so we went in January when it was cooler.

Disney pregnant is fun but here are a few things I did:
1) Lots of water
2) Lots of breaks
3) memorize where all the bathrooms are (especially if you have a fiesty one who likes to take shots at your bladder :).
4) Snacks are your friend
5) Research the rides ahead of time. There are some that are specified no to preggos. Then I chatted with my DOC ahead of time and we discussed which ones he thought would be okay (Safari ride for example).

As you know, you will have a wonderful time!!!!

put your feet up whenever you get the chance!! I went and my ankles swelled so bad..

I was there for 4 days last August at 23 weeks pregnant. I had a great time, but as said above, take breaks and drink A LOT of water. There is plenty for to do. I was back this past summer with my 7 month old. Have fun!

I went at about 7 months. It was during Christmas week so we took it slow anyway, but just be prepared to be tired and not want to get up early or stay late. Second trimester I wasn't always so exhausted as I was in the first, but I still didn't have a ton of energy to spend all day at the parks.

As PP said, know where the bathrooms are and don't wait until the last minute to get there! It's easy to forget to drink, especially if the weather is cooler, so try to carry water with you at all times. I always got horrible cramps if I didn't drink enough.

Have fun!

I've done Disney pregnant twice...Once 3 months along carrying our twins and the second time I was 4 months along with our youngest son. Like others have said, drink lots of water, rest on the benches as often as you can and try to elevate your feet when possible. I didn't mind being pregnant at Disney except for missing some rides with my other kids:( and the physical issues I had was just the normal pregnant symptoms...sickness and exhaustion...

If you go try not to go during hot months especially if you're later in your pregnancy.

Other than that just listen to your body and have fun!
I went to Disney twice pregnant and had a wonderful time :)

I went at 16 weeks pregnant and had a great time. Just take breaks when you need them and stay hydrated. I would have had a horrible time going in my third trimester as I developed a lot of hip and back issues. Good luck, and have a fun trip! It's so fun to shop for your little one in Disney while pregnant:goodvibes

I went at 15 weeks in May. I liked going then. My nausea wasn't AS bad, but I wasn't big enough to be uncomfortable.

Take it slow. Drink lots of water. Eat some good food ;)

I went in all 3 trimesters (I live in Florida) and 2nd is definitely the best. Drink lots and take it slower than normal. Plus it's the best place to indulge in your cravings! My DH thought I was insane for going to MK for a dole whip 2 weeks before my due date, but yummy!

I completely agree. I was there at about 19 weeks and it was pretty easy to have fun & keep my energy up. That was December for me so the weather was gorgeous & well outside of the summer heat waves or torrential storms.

I definitely had to carry crackers & snacks with me because I never knew where I would be when the urge struck - I had constant nauseau even though I never actually got sick very often. A cracker or 2 when I felt "that" feeling helped tons.

We took our 4-yr old niece with us so that we could enjoy the parks with her solo before the baby was born & it was such a sweet trip since she & I ambled along at about the same rate, got tired at the same time & could ride all the same attractions while DH sometimes dashed off to Space, EE or RNRC without us. ;)

I visited DisneyWorld last September while I was around 20 weeks pregnant. I had a lot of fun, there was plenty for me to do. I was tired by the end of the day so I dont think I'd attempt to go too far into the pregnancy, when walking becomes difficult. There's only so far a woman can waddle :)
I rode many of the rides with my 2 yr old and another perk was getting to eat whatever I wanted without feeling too guilty.

Been twice while pregnant.

2nd trimester is best. Eat high protein snacks (eat often) and drin water often . I was very familiar with the bathroom locations at all yhe parks after those visits. Rest when you feel like. The tta people mover is awesome for putting your feet up.

Watch the rides you choose. I avoided the safari due to the bumps along the way. I had a small problem on its a small world. I think the water level may have been low or something . When the boat came back in and was pulling up onto the belts it shook a ton. I had spotting afterwards. Took it way easy after that. Like lunch, show, etc.

Prerty sure I was 20 wks or so each time.

I was there 7 weeks pregnant in January to run the half, 16 weeks pregnant in march and 30 weeks pregnant in july...we will be going back in January for the 10k with our 4 month old and then in august when he will be just about 1. So I have a ton of experience going pregnant. At 7 weeks I had just started to experience morning sickness, so I almost puked in a bush at DTD and it took me a while to get out of bed in the morning, I also ate a bagel every day as that is all my body would tolerate. In march it was like any other trip. We only went to epcot that time, as we were really in FL for my brothers wedding but I still did test track and everything. In July, well, it was just a much slower trip with much more frequent potty breaks. I made sure to freeze a water bottle and a powerade and pack that in my backpack. Obviously at that point I wasn't going on RnR or Everest but everything else was fun. It was nice to take time to notice things...we also did the dessert party in july, and what pregnant lady doesn't love stuffing their face with dessert?!

Our next trip, in January, with a 4 month old...frankly, it makes me nervous. Especially since hes only 5 weeks right now and is dealing with gas which makes him so fussy and sometimes screaming...ugh. Hopefully by January hell be a happy baby.

good luck. have fun. you know your body and you'll know what pace to go at when you get there. at first you may go to hard for your body but you'll easily adjust to what your body is telling you to do.

I was around 7 weeks into my pregnancy on our trip this past May and while my morning sickness/nausea wasn't too bad this time around, I felt tired a lot and needed frequent breaks and found it difficult to stay up late for the night shows/festivities in the parks; but we still had a magical trip and I am glad we went when we did. My advice would be to follow your body's cues and take rest breaks (maybe even a nap break back at your resort) when needed. I found that eating a high protein breakfast in the morning and snacking throughout the day really helped keep my nausea under control. I also can't stress how important it is to stay hydrated and drink a lot of fluids. Definitely know where the bathrooms are located throughout each of the parks :thumbsup2

I had a colicy baby... 5 weeks to about 8-10 weeks were the WORST! But I can tell you with my DD at 4 months it was like someone flipped a switch! Get him used to a good carrier (Ergo, Beco type thing) to keep him more upright and keep him moving (lots of tummy time)! We did Disney with a 9 month old and it was so easy - going back this winter she will be 2.5 and I am terrified!

My son was colicky too, all out screaming from 5-10 each night from 3-13 weeks. There is no way we could have traveled at that time. I agree with a pp, at 4 months he was way better and by 6 months, happy kid! It was really tough but he's a way happy and healthy 3 year old now. We took our kids at 9/10 months which was easy as pie. 13 month baby and 5 months pregnant was tough.

You'll have an easy time in January. That was when we first took our twins, now four and it was the easiest trip with them so far. They were sleeping the night by then, loved the stroller and just went along for the ride. We had lots of fun. Only thing my daughter hated were the loud restaurants. She'd cry and then fall asleep--usually--there were a few times I had to bail halfway through a meal because she was so distraught. Have fun.
