Hello everyone,
I am planning our first family trip to Disney for September and before I go and buy my airline tix I just wanted to make sure it is an ok time to go. I can get a great deal on tix for Sun Sept 12-Sun Sept 19 and I just wanted to make sure that there isn't anything crazy going on during that week that will make it super busy. It will be DH, boys 7& 4, and myself and while I have been many times as a child I have never been as an adult so I want to make sure I do everything right :goodvibes I am also hoping for free dining and I haven't booked anything yet but we will be going no matter what I just might change where we stay and all that. So any help would be great....Thanks so much :goodvibes

I'm not aware of anything special during that time but I am sure that Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party will be up and running on select days. If you would choose to go to this it is extra money at Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom does close early on this day for the general tickets. We were at Disney beginning of Sept. in 2009 and it was a perfect time to go. The weather was mid to high 80's and still perfect weather to be out swimming late at night. The parks were not busy, we never waited more than 15 minutes (this was only on 1 ride, most rides were only 5 minutes) for any ride and that was without planning each ride. In my opinion it is absolutely a perfect time of year to go. If you have any other questions about that time of year, feel free to PM me. Happy Planning!!!

I agree, September is the BEST time to go. My last 3 trips have been in September and I'm heading back this Sept. The attendance is low and the weather is beautiful. It typically rains a lot in Sept, but in our trips it has only been a quick rain for 10-15 minutes and it passes... just pack ponchos.

There are great deals on airfare for this time too.

We did wait in a VERY LONG line for the Toy Story Mania ride - but it's AWESOME!!!! So if you go to Hollywood Studios, just make sure you get a fast pass and go back then.

Have fun!

We went in Sept. last year & are going back in Sept. this year. I thought it was a great time to go.:thumbsup2

Our first Disney trip as a family was Sept 19-27, 2008. It was a wonderful time to go. The weather was perfect and the crowds were low. It was so wonderful we are going back this year September 17-25!!!

We went in Sept 06 over Labor Day weekend and it was EMPTY, but HOT
We went in mid Oct 08 and it was a tad more crowded but not as hot

This year we are going in late Sept....so hopefully it will not be as hot and not as crowded!

Thanks so much everyone. I purchased the tickets and we will be at Disney Sept 12-19! I think I am more excited then my kiddos and they are super excited :cool1:

We have gone the last 5 Septembers. I have noticed with the addition of free dining being offered it gets more crowded every year. All in all it is the least crowded time to go as kids are just going back to school. The weather is usually good but the humidity is still high. Lines early in the morning are almost non existant. A great time to go.

Hi,
We went for the same week back in 2007. It was a great time to go. The crowds were light and the weather fantastic. We had one 1/2 day of rain, I remember we were going too go to the water park that day but changed are plans. We had free dining and loved it! The vacation was perfect, do plan to make your dining reservations well in advance to get the times that are best for your whole family. This was our first family vaction to Walt disney word, and we talk about the fun we had all the time. Wonderful memories, we have already planned to go back in late Sept /2010. We have our plane tickets and resort booked just waiting to hear if free dining will be available, but we are pretty sure that it will be announced Late March. If the airfare is good why don't you book thought the disney web site like we did, get the resort you want and wait for the free dining. This is what I did in 2007 as well, disney applied the free dining promo to our reservation no questions asked. Have a truly magical day!

You're going the exact same dates DH and I will be going! This will be our third year in a row and we swear by September. The afternoons can get a little warm, so that's the best time to try and do a show or lunch, but overall ride waits are short and the crowds aren't too busy.

Our anniversary is Sept. 1st and my husband and I always go over labor day weekend to celebrate it. We use bounceback and have a great time. Sept. is the best.
