Hi, I'm new to these forums - stumbled upon them somehow, and am I glad I did! I'm in the UK, and my son and I are going to DisneyWorld, Florida in Oct 2004, with my best friends and their baby girl, who will be nearly 2 when we go.

So what are the biggest tips for a group like us visiting WDW for the first time?

And also, I noticed some people had a countdown in their sigs - where can I get one - I'm so excited about going, but it's such a long time till we go!

Welcome to The DIS!

My best tip is to check these boards, and check them often. You will learn a lot real fast. But the great part is you'll keep learning a little more at a time for a long long time.

You will find answers to a lot of your questions already posted as well as answers to question you didn't think to ask. You will also see posts with links to other helpful and moneysaving websites. If you have a specific question you need an answer to just ask.

Here is a link to the countdowns--I hope this works. If not, just go to the Tech Support Forum

If you don't already have any WDW guidebooks you might want to get one or two. For our first trip I used Birnbaum's and the Unofficial Guide--from these I made a list of "must do's" for each park. You didn't mention how old your son is but for the younger kids the Disney sing-a-long videos are good way to help prepare them for their visit. My youngest DD also enjoyed watching the Disney vacation planning video. Be sure and ask lots of questions here because everybody here likes nothing better than talking about WDW:D

Thanks for the welcome, and the advice :)

I've been eagerly reading these forums, and will probably spend many an hour going through them. This holiday is costing a lot of money, and we certainly want to get the most out of it! BTW, my son will be 5 1/2 when we go.

Now searching the net for ziplock bags - seems to be the way to go with kids clothes on holiday!!!!

So long to go.....

Make sure to pick restaurants and make priority seatings well in advance! It makes your trip so much more enjoyable. With a big group, and a 2 yr old, you DO NOT want to wait for a long time for a table.

For an October trip, schedule and get tickets for, the Not-So-Scary
Halloween Party. You will enjoy it.

Pick a night when some stay around the resort with the child and some get to go to Downtown Disney. Check out the Adventurer's Club or Disneyquest....

THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO AND SEE!!!

Birnbaum's is an excellent guide. Visit WDWIG as well....
