Going to WDW for the 1st time with my Boyfriend? Anyone have any romantic ideas?

Hey all, so this is my first post. I have been a user for a while but have never ventured into creating a account until now. So here it goes my first thread...

Any who... I have been to Disney numerous times, but always with my family. This will be my first time going with my significant other. It will be his first time to the world and so I wanted to make it special for him. Anyone have any budget friendly romantic ideas I could use? We will be there for 9 nights and staying a the Caribbean Beach Resort.

I have never done this but Ive heard of people staying at MK after it closes and waiting for the last kiss goodnight. We always travel with the kids and it seems they poop out fairly early.
The board walk at night might also be nice.

I like that idea, then you have the park to yourself, very romantic. Thanks Since I don't have any wee ones don't have to worry about that... unfortunately they said I can't bring my puppy into the theme parks, darn it or they we definitely would have to go back to our hotel early

We go annually, and when we went in 2008, it was to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We did plan to use our dining plan for the 'nicer' restaurants, and even used 2 meals for Artists' Point. What I learned from that is even though the resturants are marketed as being more towards a special dining experience, WDW cannot guarantee you won't be surrounded by screaming kids. We were, and unfortunately, the staff wasn't particularly interested or concerned. In retrospect, we should have asked to be moved to another table, and I would definitely encourage you to do that if you find yourself seated next to a toddler meltdown.

Overall, though WDW made our anniversary extremely special.

I suggest: Dining plan, schedule a massage, ride the water taxi to DTD, golf (we're not golfers, but we played a couple hilarious games of mini golf), go during the month of September (no kids, they're all in school), and stay at either Port Orleans French Quarter (my favorite, no kidding), or Grand Floridian (gorgeous, but OMG expensive!). We took time to do "nothing" by the pool, and did a lot of walking, and talking. We've learned that you don't have to drive yourself crazy to see everything, because you can always come back! It's less stressful and more romantic if you find time to just be together without the Disney overload that can be part of the experience.

I don't really have anything to add but I'd like to that the OP for the posting this question and everyone who replied for the great ideas!

My husband and I are going in May for our 15th Anniversary and I'm looking for great ideas like this, too.

How about an after hours walk at the Boardwalk. Lots of action if you want but you can walk around the lagoon that skirts BW, BC and Yacht Club. Stop in for a drink at the Bellevue Room at BWI.

Ha, I know exactly how you feel! I have only ever been to Disney with my family, and this May my boyfriend and I are going for the first time together. I can't tell you how excited I am, Disney is something very special to us. And you're lucky to have 9 nights, wow. We are only there 4 nights.

But as to Romantic things, have you heard of the carriage rides Disney has in some of the resorts? They are 25-minute long private carriage rides offered at either Fort Wilderness, Port Orleans Riverside, or Saratoga Springs.

They also offer a group wagon ride at Fort Wilderness which is 45 minutes long (and significantly cheaper!), and sometimes a fireworks ride will replace the later, 9:30pm outing, which sounds romantic to me, cuddled up under a blanket or something, watching the fireworks over Cinderella's castle.

In our opinion, Bistro de Paris (back of France and up some stairs), is the most romantic restaurant on property (except V and A). It is a smaller room, very elegant and not many children are usually there. Set your dinner for 730 or 8pm and you can watch Illuminations from there! We have spent our first two anniversaries there, as well as our first dinner after being married at the Wedding Pavilion.

You can also go for a walk on the beach at the POLY....time it for either Sunset or Wishes. FREE and Romantic!

A fireworks carriage ride huh? that sounds fun... I saw the carriage rides and we were thinking of doing one and then ride the boat to DTD. You will have to let me know if you go on a carriage ride. I would love to hear about it

As per our reason for the long stay, it is hard and expensive to fly out of our town so if you go on any trip you try to make it worth the flight down there.

we leave on September 22nd... It feels so far away. He has never really been there. He went to Epcot once when he was real little, but they didn't do much. So he is really in for a surprise. While we are there a college friend and her fam are meeting up with us, so I am excited to explore the world with them too!

Aw, my boyfriend hasn't been to Disney since he was little either! I feel bad because I know the way around the parks like the back of my hand, and he's only been once, and barely remembers much at that! I'm so excited just to be able to share that with him.

As to logistics of our trip, it's going to be pretty minimal. We'll be staying off-site at a cheapish hotel... We're both in college without much of an income, so it's kind of tough to plan anything too big. We have three days there though, so we're going to try to see as much as we can with the time we have. I'm thinking we'll bypass a lot of Hollywood Studios, I only go there for Rock n' Rollercoaster anyway!

A couple fun things though.. I bought an instant camera (Fuji Instax brand, since polaroid no longer exists), so we're going to go to the character meet and greets and take pictures, and then have the character sign the picture as soon as it come out for an instant scrapbook. I also feel the need to buy some of those Mickey ears and wear them the whole time. Basically, we're just going to act like kids the whole time we're there, and I'm totally okay with that!

I'll probably also make a few dining reservations, and possibly some sort of show or La Nouba one of the nights. Who knows, I'm still planning.

Also, we're going to try to catch a shuttle launch at Kennedy Space Center before they retire the shuttles. I know it's not Disney related, but it's only about an hour away, and it's definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity!

hmmm..... retire huh that sounds interesting. I might have to google that.

As per La Nouba... I went in 2008 and it has to be my favorite cir show. I have seen 3 others in vegas, but really enjoyed the one at disney, I don'n know why just did. If you have a chance you should go. have a great time

I second the walk on the beach after dinner at KONA - yummy!

DBF and I are celebrating meeting one year ago, in Disney. What better way to watch Wishes!
I highly recommend Artist Point at WL too, very interesting menu but Soooo worth the price!

you know i am really loving the last kiss good night. its free and staying late in the magic kingdom makes you feel like you are all alone in the park. i love being with my gf infront of the castle late at night watching the colors change. it is amazing and very budget friendly!

No I have not, but the menu didn't interest me, but the view would be worth it

The Menu at AP is a bit more exotic...based on "Wild Game of the NorthWest US" . The Venison eggrolls (appetizer) are wonderful. Make sure neither of you are scared of heights if you choose CG...the food is also very good, but the view of Wishes is best from the OUTSIDE terrace (15th floor). DH WAS going to propose there, but I refused to go OUT. (stubborn, I know)

If we were picking, we would choose AP....not just because of my irrational fear. We like the food, and also the WL romantic atmosphere. There is a fireplace directly above the front door of the lobby...another nice place to go and cuddle. Just ask a CM.
