I'm 47 and going to be starting a new job. I won't be able to take vacation time till I've been there a year. My husband can't get the time from work to go with me. I'm dying to go but I'm afraid of looking stupid walking around all by myself.
What do you think?

Geez, I wish I could do that!

:confused3

Why would you think you would look stupid?

Going where you want, when you want, not having to ask.........

Go For It!

GO!!! That sounds like heaven to me, who cares what people think. You can have a true vacation and think how nice you will be to your husband when you get home. If I had the chance I would, actually I am going with only two of my kids and no husband for a week before the others come and I can't wait to be in control of it all. I say live it up while you can!

I'd do it in a minute, bmt337! :sunny: I've gone on several solo trips, and have always enjoyed myself. :)

Lots of people do WDW solo, in fact we even have a board dedicated to Adults and Solo Travelers, right *here! :) Check it out! :)

I've gone solo before, too. In fact, I have one coming up next weekend! I've never had any problems nor been made to feel "odd" in any Disney restaurants. Go for it!! I'm sure you will enjoy yourself! :)

I live in Florida and go to Disney all the time by myself. It's a blast. Alot of people do this. Have fun!!

I wouldn't hesitate either. I think that would be great. Do what I want when I want at my own pace......

Now that is what I call a vacation.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I think I'll go for it.

I went by myself in August 2004 and honestly, it was the BEST vacation ever. I was by myself for 7 days before I had someone join me and I was frustrated and irritated the second we started spending time together. Why? Because she wanted to do things that I didn't, she didn't want to spend too much money (we are in Florida and on vacation, are we not?), and she wasn't interested in anything I was. To put a long story short, I hated travelling with her. I had a blast by myself. I met people from all over the world, I got on rides so much more quickly (single rider lines, etc) and never was I embarrassed. Nobody stared at me ever, and the only comment I got about the fact that I was by myself was "Gee, you are so lucky!".
I brought a notebook with me everywhere that I went and when I wanted to sit down and just enjoy the view, I would diarize my day, watch the people go by and enjoy the atmosphere. I sat in a couple of places and just let it sink all in. I loved the fact that I was the master of my vacation - no children or others to say lets go do this, when in reality, that sounded like the least favorable think to do.
I say go for it - I look forward to my next vacation solo and now I think it's my favorite way to travel.
Don't forget to wear a green ribbon - you never know if you'll meet someone else from the DIS boards there. I met 2 other couples and it was nice to meet someone who shares a common addiction!
