Hi, due to quirks in Covid scheduling, we’re going on a 3-night Disney cruise on Easter weekend with grandparents and cousins and on the Monday we disembark the immediate family is going to WDW for a 5-night stay. Two boys, 6 and 9, and since it’s our first (and probably only) trip, have splurged on the Poly. Would love any suggestions re: what to do this first day. We get there on the Monday after Easter and the current plan is to hang out at the Poly for a few hours and then go to Epcot for dinner and then go to bed and hit MK for a full day the next day. However, I’m not sure going to Epcot that evening makes sense, especially as it will be the boys first time stepping into a Disney park. Should we try to get a reservation at a Poly restaurant that day instead? And maybe go to MK for an hour or two after that? Skip parks all together? Would love any input! But if I need to switch my park day, would need to do so asap as I’m not sure what’s even available at this point. Thanks!!!

Do you have tickets for 4 days or 5 days?
If just 4 days, I wouldn’t do a short day at MK- that park has the most rides. I would keep your plan of EP that first day.
If you have 5 day tickets, I would do MK your first day and then again for another full day. Can’t have too much time at MK, especially for a first/probably only trip.
Have fun!!!!!

I have 6-day tickets i think! We arrive probably by 11am the first day and have a 6pm flight on departure day (a Saturday)

Did you originally choose EP on your first day for a specific reason? If so, as long as you have more than one opportunity to go to MK you should be fine. Maybe see if your kids might prefer more days at HS, AK or EP. Kids are all so different, but mine wouldn’t ever have chosen EP over any of the other parks. Maybe see what you think they would like best or are big enough to ride before making a choice. Definitely 2 days at MK though… there are so many rides there.

Since MK is so convenient to The Poly, go there by boat and get a few rides. You might want to hop on the Monorail for dinner at The Contemporary’s Steak House 71. Then hop on the monorail to get back to the Poly. Later you can watch the fireworks from the Poly beach. Have fun!

Sounds so fun! And a great way to take advantage of the great location that the Poly is at!

No, I think the travel agent first booked it that way because our pre-Covid trip had Monday as our second full day (it was a sat to sat trio and there was no cruise beforehand). That Monday does have extended hours for deluxe hotel people in epcot though. Do you think on arrival day i should try to push it and do that (i have two kids 6 and 9) or get to bed early and get an early start in next day?

Idk, I feel like starting at MK and hopping to EP if your family is up to it is what I would do. Being at a MK resort and not going to MK would be hard, unless you just prefer EP.
