Will you go to cinema to watch Casino Royale?

There are quite many positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but i still think that i would wait for DVD . To me, the new 007 just doesn't look to have charisma.

I'm not a James Bond fan at all but after hearing a local guy do a review of the movie this morning I really, really want to go see this one. This movie is based on the first book, so it gives you the history of how and why he became who is is.

I LOVE James Bond movies and can't wait to see this one.

While the review on NPR was favorable, it also said that it made a mockery of the PG-13 rating, what with the torture scene and all. That's really too bad because my kids really want to see it. We went to Venice this summer and the first day we were there, they were shooting a scene at San Marco, so they want to see what we saw being filmed. I guess we can wait until it comes out on DVD and only show the kids the Venice part.

I can't seem to get past his look. He is not good looking *at all* to me, so I cannot see him as Bond. I know he isn't supposed to be all that suave at first, but geez, at least give me a looker. This guy is actually a turn off for me.

I know that sounds harsh, but it's about the character of Bond as well... going from at least nice looking guys to him was a step in the wrong direction IMO.

If he ever played a part in another movie, I wouldn't care so much about his looks, but it is truly a major turn off for me. I think they missed their mark by choosing him!

We will be at the 5 o'clock showing this afternoon. DH, his best firend and DS11 will be meeting me at the theater.

If you haven't done so already, PLEASE find out more before you take your 11 year old. I've heard that the level of violence should have given this an R rating. Is your 11 year old comfortable with torture? (I know I'M not!)

Im protesting and here's why...

It isn't the new guy, I wasnt happy at first about it, but so far in the previews he seems to be ok....

How is this supposed to be the first one when they have new cars, etc. and Judy Dench (sp?) being his boss? And no Q?

I think they were trying to fix something that wasn't broken and doing a terrible job of making it sound like the first mission but keeping the same new things from the last movie (Aston Martin, M, etc.), it doesn't make sense to me.

I really had no plan to see this until I heard several really good reviews and heard Craig described as a cross between Sean Connery and Steve McQueen in the role. I then caught him being interviewed last night on Charlie Rose. He is a major Sean Connery fan and tried to have his Bond be much closer to Conner's as well as being more edgy like Fleming's original books. He sort of won me over. Also, part of the movie was filmed at the beautiful One & Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas where we vacationed in June. So, I guess I'm going to see it after all.

This is really supposed to be a new take on Bond, much closer to how Fleming originally wrote him. Even looks-wise, Craig matches quite well, as Bond was written as being rugged and flat-faced, lots of hand-to-hand action and making mistakes that cost him. The last Bond movie actually saw things move a little more towards that root, with Bond actually being captured and tortured for 18 months, much more human than the superman he had become.

I am VERY excited to see it.

I saw the movie last night and all I have to say is: Go and see it! Seriously!

Daniel Craig has gotten quite a bit of bad press, especially after Brosnan was denied the role, but he was fantastic! The entire movie was fantastic and it really breathed new life into the franchise. I liked Die Another Day, but it was getting to be a bit much, just too unbelieveable and corny. And whoever said Craig wasn't good looking...see the movie, it may very well change your mind.

I also loved the fact that Casino Royale was sort of reinventing Bond...explaining how and why all the things we now know about him are. It has always seemed kind of strange that CR was the only Fleming book not made into a movie, especially being that it was the first Bond adventure.

FWIW, the torture scene was not that bad. Yes, he was naked, but it was dark and you couldn't see anything dirty...it was basically just an outline. And keep in mind, all the Brosnan films except for Goldeneye, I believe, were PG-13, so I didn't expect much different from this one.

One last thing: it cracked me up toward the beginning of the movie when Bond gets his first car. I turned to my boyfriend and was just like, "Why the hell is Bond driving a Ford?" The kid sitting next to me said the same thing a minute later. Not to worry though, as he gets a gorgeous Astin Martin later on.

Just got back from seeing it - possibly the best Bond movie ever. :3dglasses Did not need to stick to the "routine" of gadgets, music cues and smart remarks as 007 is not really Bond until the end of the movie.

Die hard Connery and Brosnan fan here, over 50, so not a kid - Daniel Craig? My oh my!!  HOT HOT HOT!

There was no way around the Judi Dench as M since the other M actor has died. And Dame Judi was outstanding. As the film progresses you find you do not need the crutches of the other movie formats. I look forward to the next Daniel Craig Bond film. Hope they don't crap it up trying to be like the other films. New actor, new genre, geez do you think I can get Daniel to take a shower in my bathroom?

Either I'm talking my friends into seeing this with me or I'll make DH go with me over Thanksgiving vacation. Bond guy = Eye candy.

I have to say I had no interest in seeing this movie and if it weren't for my Dad I would not have ever seen it. But then my Dad came into town, and it was his birthday, and my sister got some free tickets so we all went for Dad's birthday. I REALLY enjoyed it. :thumbsup2 I am not a big Bond fan but I thought it was a good movie and I would even go see it again. Daniel Craig was a great Bond.

I saw it Thurday night and it was great. Pretty violent though. Not as much sex as I expected, although they didn't pass up to show Bond with his shirt off.
