Its just me and DH taking a short weekend trip to Vegas :lovestruc. Would love some feedback on hotels to look at, Tia.

If money is not an object - my dream hotel would be the Venetian
The Mandalay has a great pool
I have stayed at Treasure Island and really enjoyed the location

I love the Bellagio for its theaming, location and just for the view of the dancing fountains (see my avitar and tag!!!) We have also stayed in the Venetian which was also amazing (we somehow lucked out and got a free upgrade to a 2 bedroomed high roller suite with views both ways up and down the strip complete with our own steam room and sauna! I'm a teacher so not a high roller! lol). I would choose a hotel mid strip, the Bellagio, Paris, Ballys, Ceasars for a short stay you can easily access things both ways up and down the strip.

I would encourage you to visit our Vegas planning board, you will find it in the DLR section.

We have stayed at the MGM Grand and New York New York. I liked the rooms at the MGM Grand better, but the theming of New York New York. Both were nice though. If I could pick anywhere I would stay at the Bellagio or the Venetian. They are beautiful.

It's going to be hotter than blazes, so I would recommend something either centrally located or with a valet with good in and out access.

Places I would recommend:

Bellagio
Flamingo
Caesars

Places I would recommend with a car only:

Luxor
Rio

Places I would avoid:

Harrah's
Venetian
Las Vegas Hilton
Paris
Planet Hollywood

We just stayed at The Mirage (and are again in a couple of weeks), and I really like it! It is across the street from the Venetian and Palazoo, but not nearly as expensive. Plus, there is the LOVE Cirque show, which we LOVED!!! (pun intended, lol!)

Since I am here:cool1:

Can anyone tell me were they'd recommend for Good Pool with some Shade available, but also, decent/good meals in hotel, am traveling with a High Schooler...Not tons of kids (especially little ones) type atmosphere OR screaming blaring music..
Do you prefer MGM or Mandalay is better? :flower3:

The Venetian. Awesome pool, good food!

I definitely vote Mandalay Bay. They have a huge, lovely pool.

MGM's pool is nothing special at all. It is SO far away from everything and is very plain.

Food options are great at Mandalay Bay. They've got tons there, plus the shopping mall and Luxor within decent walking distance.

If you do go there, give Burger Bar a try. It's in the mall section and they have a huge variety of really tasty burgers. It's one of my favorites in Vegas.

I went to Vegas for my 21st birthday earlier this month and stayed at PH. I loved it. Like LOVED it. :lovestruc

However, I understand it is really only for the under 35 (maybe under 30 even!) age group, so I guess they have certainly hit their target market with me. :lmao:

I visited the Wynn...and it was just amazing. BEAUTIFUL. There are no words to describe how opulent that hotel is. My parents stayed there in Feburary and they loved it. It is definetly targeted towards an older market. My sister and I decided that the theme of the Wynn was "Expensive". :rotfl:

:confused3 what is the DLR section. This is such a timely post....I am JUST looking to book Vegas, talk about timely discussion!

We stayed at Bally's in January. Loved the location! The hotel was "eh".

DH and I thought we would fall in love with the Bellagio. Instead we absolutely loved Caesar's Palace!

We would walk from Bally's to Caesars (across the street) and stay there all day, LOL.

We plan on going back in January 2011, and I am hoping to stay at Caesars. It is pricey, but I really liked the entire atmosphere (and HUGE shopping center.... and Cheesecake Factory.... and cleanliness.... and......)

Gosh, this is like asking what bottle of wine should I pick. Take your pick of any of the above, you cant go wrong.

We like the MGM Grand. One of the nicer hotels, but not as expensive as Caesar's, Bellagio, etc. I also like their casino the best. Bellagio would be my second choice.

We stayed at Luxor and I really enjoyed it. But it is on the far end of the strip. If we went back, I would probably pick Ceasers (sp) Palace. The shopping alone is worth it. Or what ever the Aladdin is now...also good shopping. Bellagio if you have the money. Hard Rock or The Palms if you are in your 20's.
I'd love to go back someday...just not in August. That was a blunder on my part. 115 degrees. Why in the world didn't I pick the fall or spring???
We went in 2001, a month before 9/11. There were reports that the hijackers were test flying out to Vegas around that time, I still don't know what airline or anything. But it was the last time we flew "normally". You could still see people off at the gate back then. Things have changed so much.

Just avoid Circus, Circus :lmao:
Craptastic hotel. We didn't stay there, but took the girls there to the little amusment park they have inside. We also ate breakfast there. Not a highlight of the trip. I think I got food poisoning from the eggs.

Venetian/Palazzo
Venetian/Palazzo
Venetian/Palazzo
Venetian/Palazzo
Venetian/Palazzo

The list begins and ends there. I've stayed at PH, NY NY, Bellagio, Caesar's, TI, Mirage, Aria, etc. Nothing compares to Venetian/Palazzo. Best rooms, cheaper than their competitors on many occassions. Best casino. Awesome layout and theme without being overly stuffy. Great cocktail service. Best poker room. Best eye candy. Best restaurants. Best clubs. It's utopia, except for when I lose too much $.

I always recommend cheapovegas.com - it compares food, pool, prices, etc on all vegas hotels

Personally I have stayed at
Excalibur (lower end hotel on the strip)
Flamingo (which I think might be gone now)
Ny NY
Monte Carlo (got married here)
Flamingo
Rio
The Orleans
Timeshare at Flamingo - Hilton Grand Vacations - behind the hotel
Timeshare off strip - can't remember what it's called
Green Valley ranch
Mandalay Bay
