Hey all-

I'm heading to Toronto later this month for a conference and would love to hear about some fun (hopefully not too expensive) stuff to do there. I'll be staying at the Sheraton downtown and will have a few mornings and evenings free.

I've heard there is a Greektown there- I absolutely love Greek food. Any suggestions? Other restaurants I should try?

Weather this time of year? (I'm starting to get weary of the TX sun, so a break could be nice)

Thanks for any info you might have!

Right now though very HUMID! and SMOGY!

Well you will be right across from the Eaton Centre which has a Disney Store!LOL

I can't advise on the Greek thing, 'cause never been down there myself but hear it is good!

You gotta walk Yonge Street!

I'm at work so trying to do this quickly.

Try this link for some info:

I'll get back to you.

I love Toronto. Go as often as I can. As far as restaurants, the sky is the limit.

If you have time, a cool thing to do is visit the CN Tower and go to the top where they have a room with a glass floor. You stand on it and it's like walking on air - and it's a LONG way down. :p

The Downtown Sheraton Center is absolutely beautiful. I stayed there in May. The beds are fit for royalty!;)

There are tons of things to do in Toronto. Scratch will be able to help you with info.

Have you tried posting on the Canadian Board? That should get you some quick help.

Have fun

I stayed there last Summer and was not impressed with Sheraton Eaton Centre. Room was a bit run down. Maybe they are refurbishing and had not gotten to my room yet? I prefer the Intercontinental on Front St.

Try to see a show. When I was there in April The Producers and Hairspray had just opened. Also catch a taxi and take a look around Kensington. It's a row of houses that are stores and they have neat things. Lots of vintage stuff. I've been to Toronto 4x in the last 3 years so if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer.

I have stayed twice at the Sheraton Downtown Center and both times the rooms we have stayed in were very nice.

Maybe they are refurbishing a few rooms at a time???

They had nice big comfy beds with tons of pillows on them and nice fluffy duvets, we thoroughly enjoyed the rooms.

Thanks all for the information, websites, advice. Good to know about the Disney Store- always a home away from home.

The "Danforth" area is very popular for Greek food/stores. We love a restaurant called Pappa's Grill. The East/West subway line (Bloor subway line - go east direction) takes you to that vicinity, but not sure I'd know which stop it is as we always drive. Our summer weather has not been very predictable yet! We are usually in high 20s celcius right now (mid 80s F) but have yo-yo'd between cool and hot/humid. Today we hit 29 degrees C (90F) and tomorrow they are calling for 20 ~70F. If weather turns consistent again, expect high 80s during your stay. Have a great time! Jo

Quite possibly. I booked our room on Expedia so maybe I got a bad room because of this? Don't know but ours did not have nice comforters but the old, thin comforters and it needed new carpet.

Pappa's Grill is 1 block east of Chester station.

I don't want to go to Toronto
By Radio Free Vestibule

I don't want to go to Toronto
I don't want to go
All of the blocks are square
None of the streets are twisted
None of the streets are paved with bricks
There's too many elevators in Toronto
Not enough stairs in Toronto
Not enough stairs
All of the food in Toronto is made of edible oil products
They don't have bagels in Toronto
They have doughnuts
Doughnuts made of edible oil
I don't like doughnuts
They don't have bagels
I don't want to go to Toronto
People don't have faces in Toronto
They have cigarette ads instead
They listen to your phone calls
There's a tower in Toronto that controls people's minds
It's illegal to possess brightly coloured balloons in Toronto
Illegal to own brightly coloured balloons
All of the children in Toronto must wear suits
Even the girls
Three piece suits
The buildings in Toronto have no windows
I don't want to go
Everyone lives in sub-terrainian caverns
Filled with doughnuts made of edible oil
I don't want to go
Nobody goes to the bathroom in Toronto
They have a special operation
They have it removed surgically
There's a tax on all wicker goods in Toronto
There's huge buildings with no windows
And streets with no curves
And inside you find little girls in suits
Running around with black balloons
And munching on edible oil products
The kids don't have names
They have numbers which are assigned to them at birth
They're called three hundred and eighty seven point seven
Four hundred and twelve point nine
And they all have cigarette ads instead of faces
I don't want to go to Toronto
I don't want to go
I have plenty of wicker goods
I don't want a tax on my wicker goods
I like going to the bathroom
I don't want to go the hospital
I don't want to go to Toronto
I don't want to go
Do I have to go to Toronto?
Do I?
Do i have to go?
I don't want to go
Do i have to go to Toronto?
I don't want to go
