:hourglass Hi all I am new here and have read alot of great things about the rpr. I am so excieted to have choosen this hotel.I know you can pool hop but can you also resturant hop too? Also are they really strict at check in time cause we will be in orlando at around 12noon and i saw that check in is at 4pm? Also for two people if we plan to spend $900 on food and stuff is that plenty for that? :Pinkbounc :cheer2:also is it really busy at this time?

Welcome to the Dis!

I'm just planning my trip, but I can tell you that if you join Loew's First, you can request early check-in. See the sticky thread at the top of this forum for more info.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by restaurant hop? None of the restaurants are reserved for the exclusive use of hotel guests, if that's what you mean.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

You can check in as early as you like in order to get your keys for FOTL. I have checked in at HRH as early as 7:30 AM. Your room may not be ready until 4, but you can check your luggage and head to the parks with your magic keys while you wait for your room. They will give you a number to call to check on your room.

You can go to any of the restaurants at each of the resorts. We are particularly fond of the Kitchen at HRH. Mama Della's at PBH is also nice.

We are a family of 3 and I usually budget about $125 per day for food and souvenirs for us. Some days we spend a bit less, some days a bit more. On average we end up in that range (though that did not include our $195 dinner for 2 at Emerils!).

Islands Dining Room at RPR is great, although a bit on the expensive side. Still, the food quality makes it worth it.

I also really like Jake's (also in RPR). Casual dining and drinking and very cleverly themed. Take the time to examine all the memorabilia on the walls and learn about Jake!

I should be at Universal around the same time as you. See you there!

We prefer Islands to Tchoup Chop and it is cheaper as well. Jakes is good. Also, there is good pizza over at the Portofino and you don't need reservations.

The coconut pineapple macadamia pancakes & tahitian french toast w/carmelized bananas and cinnamon butter at Islands are to die for! Good stuff! :) You can eat at any of the restaurants in any of the hotels. Your budget sounds great to me.

When my Sister-in-law and I checked into the RPR on May 29, we were given our room keys to use for FOTL at the parks, and this was at 10:30 AM. I was given a card with a number to call at 4 to get our room numbers(we had connecting rooms). At 3:30, we rode Ripsaw Falls, and headed back to the hotel---I called right at 4 to get our room numbers. Imagine my surprise when I was informed our rooms were not ready! So here we were, soaking wet, standing at the front desk talking to the man in charge of room assignments at 4:30 pm. By 5, we were able to get into 1 room, but not the other. I was miffed, especially since I had declined the waterview room we had booked for a standard view so we could have connecting rooms. The manager just said he was sorry, and that the hotel was completely booked. I'm not really sure what the capacity had to do with our rooms not being cleaned by 4, but that was the excuse. I booked the rooms for the 29th on the spur of the moment so my nephews could ride Spiderman and the Mummy for the first time, and I have never done a Universal park without FOTL access. I have a trip booked starting Friday(6/10) at RPR that I booked months ago...I'm hoping things go more smoothly.

Don't feel too bad. I stay at RPR often and keep in contact with the front office manager. I also checked in on the 29th in the morning and didn't get my suite until 4:45. They tried the same crap with me about rooms being sold out. Unfortunately, for them I was still not pleased and they made it right in the end.

RyGuy-
If you don't mind me asking, how did they make it right for you? The manager I spoke with did not really seem sincerely sorry at all; he treated us like we were asking too much to expect the room to be ready by 4. He suggested we use the shower facilities to change our wet clothing, but bell services had our luggage, so we just waited until one room was ready. I know that the rooms not being ready was not the manager's fault, but I felt he could have been more sincere in his apology.

I checked in the 30th and got my room with a suite upgrade at 8 a.m. So it depends a lot on the occupancy. Loew's 1st allows late check out (2) and that puts pressure on housekeeping. When I have rec'd the room later than 4 in the past I ask for that time to be added to my late check out and they have done it.

A Housekeeping manager called to apologize and then sent me another welcome gift, free drink coupons at jakes, and gave me late check-out, which I already had for Loews First. One of the managers I know also has promised me a hospitality suite for my next trip. I will prob be back in a week or so but only for a night. I'm going to save the hospitality suite for a time when I'm staying at least two nights.
