Dh & I will be staying in Kendal for a weekend.

Any recommendations on where to go? what to see? do?

Thanks :)

What do you want to do. Sightsee or hiking. Personally love Keswick lovely little shopping area and beautiful park with views across Derwentwater, walk up to Surprise View over Ashness Bridge for breathtaking scenery. Whatendlath is a nice out of the way place for a stroll. I think you need to look on line or visit the Tourist Information.

Thanks Wendy.

More sightseeing and just wandering around really. Will def have a look on the net when I get a mo.

Hiya, I'm from whitehaven on the west coast of cumbria, and from experience there's so much to do and see, your best way to go about planning is to think realistically about how far you want to travel to do sightseeing/walking/shopping, etc., then contact tourist info (kendal will have one) and ask for info. Also if you're staying in a B&B or hotel they'll know the surrounding areas. Remember that the main roads through the lakes aren't really 'main' roads and with tourist traffic a short journey can take a while! At least Kendal is on the M6!

Have a great time with the cumbrians, say hiya marra to them from me! (translation: hello mate)!

Oh and bowness, windermere, ambleside, grasmere, keswick are good to visit, but they are the main touristy areas, so look for somewhere off the beaten track for memorable scenery!

Keswick is to me the best town in the Lakes but as it is at the north end of the park it is a fair drive. Please do me a favour, if you do visit dont walk round the town in your walking boots like alot of the visitors there, its not big and its not clever ;)

Erm we don't have any walking boots so we will probably stick to just walking around towns :)

If it's hot like today can't see us doing much walking anywhere!
