Going to St. Thomas...Any Hints/Tips?

DH and I are going to St. Thomas in 5 weeks!!! He earned the trip through his company - top sales reps and top clients will be going. Except for the first night and the last night, we have the rest of the 5 days for ourselves. We have scheduled one day for a tour of St. John and another day we're doing a day sail/snorkel with two other couples.

We'll be staying at the Frenchman's Reef, and we do want to spend a day relaxing at our resort - pool/beach, and I also want to spend a few hours shopping in Charlotte Amalie.

So, can anyone recommend anything else that shouldn't be missed? What about a couple of nice restaurants/bars for our free evenings?

I've read travel guides until I'm blue in the face, but I respect the opinions on these boards over ANY travel guides.

we just returned from the 9/21 Magic eastern cruise...absolutely loved St Thomas and have a few recommendations…we rented a car and traveled to several locations….two scenic view locations not to be missed….both are on route 40…one overlooks the north end and a spectacular view of Magen’s Bay ...the other overlooks the port town of Charlotte Amalie (and whatever cruise ships are docked at that time)…both are within a few minutes drive of Frenchman’s Reef…we swam and snorkeled at Coki and Sapphire beaches and enjoyed both (at sapphire look for several wild iguana near a grove of fruit trees – can’t recall the name of the fruit, looked similar to grapes – the iguana are 2-3 feet long and will allow you to feed them the fruit, from a distance)…you are staying right next to our favorite location – Coco Joe’s at Morning Star beach – an excellent beach bar with great eats (wings, nacho’s etc) and strong margaritas, and located right on the ocean…we stopped there for lunch and stayed for 3 hours…the gentle surf and perfect chocolate sand (very soft – with no shells) was the best we saw on the island….enjoy!!!
