Hello to all..

The time has come to pop the question ! I have never stayed at a Disney resort before. I would like to stay at one for just one night....spend a day at the park.....and then go back to our room, go out onto the balcony and watch the fireworks and propose.

So my question is....which resort has the best views of the fireworks that has a balcony and how do I reserve one ? Do I need to call disney directly and ask them for a particular floor/room or just tell them my plan and they will know what I am talking about and book me accordingly. Any help is greatly appreciated. Plan on doing this the weekend of Feb 29th.

The polynesian would fit the bill nicely but not cheaply. You can specify and pay for a specific view- you would want a "Magic Kingdom View."
You call Disney and be sure to mention your intentions, they may spread a little disney magic your way!!!!

I agree that the Polynesian would be perfect -- most expensive but almost guaranteeing a perfect view would be the concierge level -- and you could also work with their planners to insure you get the right room.

Secondly would be the Tahiti building which also has great views of the fireworks.

Cheaper yet would just be an evening on the beach there watching the fireworks and forgoing the expense of a room at the hotel.

I would vote for a theme park view room at the Poly - or better yet, the lagoon view conciege at the Poly!

You'll likely need to request a 3rd floor room, as many of the buildings don't have balconies on the 2nd floor.

I would definitely have whomever you book with note that you will be proposing, and a balcony with a fireworks view is of utmost importance to you. If you stay concierge, they should be able to assist you with this, as well.

Best wishes! :wizard: :wizard:

the CR is nice too.

again a MK view is expensive.

the MK view are the most expensive standard room (non-conceirge)

If those hotels are not in your budget you could have dinner at Cali Grill the view of the fireworks is amazing. We have been twice and each time there was a purposal.

Thanks for the tips....I see the polynesian is the best bet. I have been to the california grill..very nice. But brings back memories because of the ex ! Plus, there are too many people around and I hate becoming a spectacle...I would rather the moment be private if you know what I mean. How much am I looking at for a one night stay (Saturday night) and do they accept reservations for only 1 night ?

Thanks.

I vote for the Poly too but I have never stayed at the Contemporary & I am sure those views are pretty nice too!

I did get engaged at the Poly. We were staying there & it was our first night & my then boyfriend (now dh) carried the ring around in his back pack that entire first day there-we went to Downtown Disney as he wasn't sure where he was going to do it since it was only his 2nd or 3rd trip there. He knew the Poly was my favorite place too so I think he was leaning towards there.

Anyways, before the fireworks & right before the Water parade, we sat on the last hammock on the beach in front of the Tahiti longhouse (it was closest to the TTC) & he proposed.

It was actually quite nice since we were just sitting there with no one around 'on a beach' at my favorite place listening to the sounds, watching the boats & waiting for the fireworks.

Anyways, I am not sure if you want to spend the $400+/night for a view/balcony but if you didn't that is another option.

Good luck & Congrats.

Oh...he proposed to me the end of March so after Valentines Day he was in the store & he got a stuffed animal with the year 1999 on it, the year we got engaged so that was neat & he was a great bargain shopper at that!

there is another alternative - both Pop Century (value) and CBR (moderate) - each can see the Epcot higher up fireworks.

no balconies.

but most guests are at the parks during the fireworks - so it can be pretty private.

Poly.
We just stayed there Nov./Dec. 07 LVC and it was the best romantic room I have ever stayed in anywhere. Just beautiful!!!:thumbsup2 DH and I would watch the fireworks from MK on our patio and laugh and smile and kiss. It was wonderful. :cloud9:
Oh I cant WAIT to go back.

WE also had an amazing view at GF. I really don't think the Poly is any better in terms of view, and I think GF is more of a romantic theme myself...GF is where the wedding pavillion is located. I don't think it's any less expensive than the Poly, but more of a romantic themed resort. The Poly is rather brown...

I think one trick you may find is getting DGF out of the park. If I only had one day, it'd be hard to get me to leave...One idea is to have dinner at the resort you are choosing, and then you could easily find an excuse to go back to the room after dinner! (or room service even...)

Room prices vary by season and weekend rates this year are more expensive than weeknights. If you find the three monorail resorts to be out of your price range....you could also get a balcony room at the Swan. Instead of MK, you'd get a view of the Epcot fireworks. You may be able to get a room there as low as $199 - or maybe even less if they offer a deal whiel you are there. It's a very nice reosrt and the beds there are better than any on property.

ANOTHER option that I bet nobody will mention is the Marriott World Center. It is a VERY nice hotel, and rooms normally go for over $300 a night there, but sometimes they offer a deal, and many of the rooms have a view of the Epcot fireworks. It's not exactly the same as the monorail resorts, but the view is nice and the resort is very nice. The rooms have very nice balconies, and the main pool is spectacular! Try to get a room a little higher up for the best view. We had a room on the first floor, and we could still see the fireworks. We also had waterfall just outside our room, and you could hear the splashing most of the evening. We also were able to have the hot tub to ourselves late at night. If you have any Marriott points you might be able to use them towards a room.

I have stayed at the Poly and agree with the poster above who said it is very brown! Great views, for sure. I would def look into the Grand Floridian - it looks so much more romantic.

We stayed at the Boardwalk villas and had a Boardwalk View and the fireworks from Epcot/Illuminations were so beautiful to watch from our balcony...oh, so magical!!

CR, hands down. If he can swing it, the 14th floor concierge. It is worth every penny:cloud9: . You can also turn on your TV to hear the soundtrack to wishes.

I agree with kimberle...I stayed at the Poly in a MK view in November with my kids...and it was beautiful......BUT we are taking the kiddies back in August and we are staying at the MK view in the CR...we were staying at the GF but I changed.. I saw pictures and to me they are the best views that Disney can offer...just my opinion :wizard:

How sweet! And welcome, welcome, welcome to the DIS!

Someplace romantic with a great view of the fireworks that knows how to "do-it-up-right"= Grand Floridian. This is a once in a lifetime event; if you clue the resort into what you are doing they will certainly add more magic:goodvibes

I would pick the Poly in a heart beat if it was guaranteed that you would have a balcony. The GF might also not be the best bet because I don't think they have a castle view, but a park view, meaning you might not see the castle. The only place where you would definitely be guaranteed a MK view and a balcony is the CR, but the resort isn't exactly romantic.

I don't know which resort you should choose, but I just thought I should bring up those points.

The Grand floridian hands down!!!! The GF is all about victorian romance!!! If you contact the CM and tell them your plans I'm certain they will make it very special. You can go for a stroll by the wedding pavilion and watch the fireworks from the beach or from your balcony.

The poly is great-but more for families and fun. My second choice would be CR with a MK view but without a doubt....the GF!!!!

Not sure how much you want the balcony but I thought I might suggest a illuminations cruise. Out on the water with the fireorks going over the world showcase. I always thought it as romatic as they went over Paris. You can also have hatever refreashments etc.... Sorry had to share the fairy tale in my mind.
