going to propose to girlfriend. Best BALCONY disney resort with view of fireworks ?

I am not a fan of the GF but it sounds like it would be perfect. Defiantely ask the CM to put you in a room that fits the bill. My second choice would be Poly CL LV if they could not gaurantee a room at GF.

Not sure how much you want the balcony but I thought I might suggest a illuminations cruise. Out on the water with the fireorks going over the world showcase. I always thought it as romatic as they went over Paris. You can also have hatever refreashments etc.... Sorry had to share the fairy tale in my mind.

I was thinking the same thing..either an Illuminations cruise or a Fireworks cruise on Bay Lake. Either would be very romantic and private. You wouldn't have to worry whether the balcony faced the fireworks or not. If you book Poly you could just as easily..and equally as romantic I think..propose on the Beach while watching the fireworks.

Without a doubt the Poly! It would be so very romantic. It is such a beautiful and lush resort. I don't think the Contemporary or the Grand Floridian would be as romantic. But you are in love and probably any where would be perfect. Congrats to you how sweet. Ok I have to say it ........... Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwe

ANOTHER option that I bet nobody will mention is the Marriott World Center. It is a VERY nice hotel, and rooms normally go for over $300 a night there, but sometimes they offer a deal, and many of the rooms have a view of the Epcot fireworks. It's not exactly the same as the monorail resorts, but the view is nice and the resort is very nice. The rooms have very nice balconies, and the main pool is spectacular! Try to get a room a little higher up for the best view. We had a room on the first floor, and we could still see the fireworks. We also had waterfall just outside our room, and you could hear the splashing most of the evening. We also were able to have the hot tub to ourselves late at night. If you have any Marriott points you might be able to use them towards a room.
UGH, please do not go to the Marriott World Center (sorry mickeyluv'r). We are big Poly. fans but made the mistake of using Marriott points and stayed at MWC (see my signature) -- We so missed the Disney magic.
Agree with others that the Poly. would be great for you, OP!
I also agree with others that the Wedding Pavilion and beach are so pretty and romantic that you could propose outside and still stay Poly in a garden-view room with a balcony (but no fireworks view) rather than lagoon/MK view. Congrats. and may it be such a magic evening for you and your love.:wizard:

Instead of a resort balcony where the next door neighbors on their balconies might be more interested in watching what you are doing instead of the fireworks  , how about having private dining over at the GF with a view of the fireworks and have your butler bring your dessert just when the fireworks begin? And maybe for that dessert you could order the Cinderella's slipper dessert and place the ring with it, or have the cake with the castle on top and place the ring there :lovestruc

Grand Floridian Private Dinner
The Grand Floridian will create a private dining experience for couples, with views of the fireworks and a personal butler to attend to all your needs.

The dinners usually take place outside in the alcove area overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon, and dessert is timed to coincide with the Wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom. You can order off of the private dining menu, or for a 25% surcharge, order from any of the Grand Floridian's fantastic restaurants (Narcoossees, Citricos, etc.).

This standard Private Dining meal includes a multi-course dinner and one bottle of wine or champagne. Depending on your specific food and beverage selections, the dinner usually costs around $200 plus 6.5% tax and gratuity.

Contact (407) 824-2578 at least seven days in advance to schedule a private dinner at the Grand Floridian.

Here's pictures of the GF cake and the slipper dessert from the GF Afternoon Tea (you can order the same desserts for the private dining) posted by Oybolshoi in her fantastic dining report with pictures (not private dining review though) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1622180
