Going to PA Dutch in May...HELP

Oh boy - hope she gets better quickly! I wanted to add, a hotel that we absolutely LOVE, is the Fulton steamboat inn. It seems so cheesy but it is absolutely NOT at all. Very, very pretty decor, friendly service and well-appointed rooms.

Another off the beaten path site to take a nice scenic break is the Hayloft Candle Barn in Leola on S. Groffdale Road. There's is a small petting zoo, a stroll around a small lake with a gazebo and a nice size store where you can shop and get an ice cream cone for $1.00. The petting zoo is free.

There is also a Disney outlet in the Rockvale outlet center in Lancaster. The last time I was there, they had a clearance section of Disney Park merchandise including items from Disneyland.
Shady Maple is a great place to eat but I think it is closed on Sundays. You will find that quite a few of the smaller businesses are closed on Sunday.

There is a Holiday Inn Express (but I think it's changing over to Comfort Inn soon) right in the Rockvale outlet. Nice place, clean rooms, and the staff is lovely. Comes with free breakfast.

There are two different outlet malls in Lancaster. Tanger and Rockvale, the latter has the Disney store in it, and then there's a Disney store in the Hershey Tanger Outlets.
If you are headed to Strasburg, there is a wonderful ice cream parlor on the square called Strasburg Creamery. You also might want to check out the Strasburg Village Inn for accomodations http://www.strasburg.com/Strasburg-Village-Inn/Rooms-And-Rates/
In Lititz, don't miss Wilbur Chocolates (so much better than Hershey's).
Shady Maple Smorgasbord is the best.
As far as Hershey is concerned, there is Chocolate World (which is mostly free with some upcharges for some experiences) and then near the square in Hershey is "The Hershey Story." The original factory is gone, other than the original smokestacks and the bushes that spell out Hershey Cocoa. The Factory was torn 2 years ago now.
Up in Mt. Hope PA (Manheim, Lancaster Co) is the Renaissance Faire grounds and winery and they do other different events year round like Flavor and Craftfest and the Celtic Fling which are family friendly.
There's also Wheatland, which was President Buchanan's estate, it's very interesting. http://www.lancasterhistory.org/visit/wheatland
