Don't worry too much about all the tourist stuff. I say just set aside an evening to explore. Chelsea or Hell's Kitchen and you will definitely get an eye in to the gay experience.

Eathan, noticed you live in NYC: , I've heard the Chelsea Market is cool and an okay place to grab an informal bite. Is it? And how late is it open?

I like Eataly,but haven't been to Chelsa Mkt yet...

NYC is my favorite city! If you love musicals, definitely try to see at least one Broadway show. I love shopping in SoHo, and Times Square. Just walking around and taking in the sights is exciting!
