We want to go next year after my DS graduates Kindgergarten. So in terms of heat and crowds, Mid-June right after school lets out or end of July? It will be me, DH, DS and my DM for her 1st ever trip to DW! I assume it will be very hot either time so I don't know if that will be a factor in deciding. I keep hearing that alot of people go right after school is out so I wonder if that will up the crowds initially or will they just get worse? We are thinking about the ASMo resort as we are fine sharing a small room. Any and all opinions would be appreciated

I wouldn't go again in mid July if it was a free trip!!!LOL :rotfl2:
Seriously, it was just so hot and crowded I couldn't take it. It was DH and I and we both can usually take the heat. It was just unbearable. Then the crowds were just the worst!! I have to say that DH and I really hate crowds so someone who doesn't mind crowds might say it's not bad. I think what makes it so bad is the combo of the high temps and humidity and crowds. I would definately pick the end of June if I had to choose between the 2. I think the crowds get worse the further into the summer you go. I have heard that the last 2 weeks of Aug. is much better for a summer trip because kids in the south go back to school in Aug. It's still hot, but less crowded.

Whenever you go just be prepared for crowds and heat. Have a plan, it will save you in the summer months. Keep hydrated, use fastpass, take advantage of EMH, take a break in the afternoon to swim, refresh.

Good luck! What a nice graduation present for your little guy!

I agree with Desnik :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I can not take Disney in the summer. We used to go in August because taht was the only time that my husband was able to take off from work and it was unbearable. There were several times (especially during the 7 for the price of 4 special) that we actually left the parks and just went back to our resort to swim. We just couldn't take the heat or the crowds and then the crowds with the heat - OY VEY!

That being said - if I HAD TO choose, I would probably pick mid-June vs. July.

neither sorry disney in the summer is brutal crowds and heat never let up!!!

July is value season at the Deluxes. That is the only reason to chose July over June. They are both hot and wet and crowded. But fun, right?

Unfortunately, my DH does not want to pull my DS out of school for the trip. DS has had a hard time adjusting to preschool and it was worse after we came back from Disney(we pulled him out for 2 weeks in Dec to take him to Disney for his 5th bd). DH doesn't want to disrupt DS once he gets into the swing of things. I agree that we can't wait to make reservations until we see how he adjusts, so we need to start planning for his summer vacation. We get out around the 8th of June and start around the 25th of Aug, so we need to fit the vacation in there or not go. Now I am starting to get very worried. :confused3

Hey mapy!

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I'm not doing cartwheels and handsprings myself about going in summer. Kim Wiley says (in "WDW with Kids") that summer at WDW can be a preview of hell itself :teeth: .

What we decided to do was take a 8 day/7night trip and take it easy. We are going to the parks every day, but at a lot lower pressure. We are staying on-site and doing a lot of swimming and relaxing.

Don't be worried, just plan well. . You will have a fantastic time.

Could you maybe go the last week of school?? Many schools get our around the 8th so a one week jump on them might help. Kindergarten will do nothing that last week and no adjusting to going back. If not that I would leave the day he gets out for the summer. I have only been once in july and will not go back. We had to choose between July and not going this year and we choose to wait till next year and go again in January. Good luck!!!!
