We have our very first DL vacation planned for Feb. 2009 and after calling a few hotels along Harbor Blvd, one of the clerks told me that there is a convention going on during our dates.

Unfortunately, we cannot change our dates and I was wondering, aside from hotel rooms being a bit more expensive and hard to find, how are the parks?

Those of you who have visited while conventions were taking place, how were the parks? Crazy busy? Moderately busy or busy only during the evenings and weekends?

Waiting for your opinions:)

I cannot speak to the parks during the convention, but I can speak as someone who has attended a major Anaheim convention. I was way too busy with the convention (as were my colleagues) to even think about Disneyland.

I have always found that the conventions do not seem to make a big difference in crowd size. I went one year when there was a huge oil convention going on, and I still had no wait times on the rides and the parks did not seem any busier than usual.
The crowds are bad when it's a holiday and a convention, because the locals and regular tourists and convention tourists all come. But just a convention and you won't notice much difference.

I think it depends which convention your talking about too...we have gone during conventions and have not noticed a difference whatsoever. Now if it is a cheerleading convention....that may be another story.

The convention from Feb 22 - 24, 2009, will be the Heli-Expo 2009 (Helicopter Association International). The Heli-Expo that was held last February in Houston, Texas, had 17,000 attend.
