Going to cry - we had to cancel

We are going to have to cancel our Sept FD trip which we upgraded to DxDP and our friends and their 2 kids were going to go with us for their first trip to Disney and me and DH and our friends were both celebrating our 10 yr Anniv.

I just got a great job offer that I can't pass up because of a vacation but starting in 2 wks I wouldn't have enough vacation time built up and you can't take off with out pay so we are going to have to cancel. I hope our friends take it well when I call them. I could take the vacation if I started there a week early however DH works for the same co. I do right now and I don't feel right about giving one week notice. So we will reschedule.

Does anyone know if you can get good discounts in November by chance?

We will have to cancel our much anticipated trip in August because DH may lose his job. I would LOVE if we had to cancel because he got a new job he couldn't pass up!!!

Thanks - actually, losing this job won't be the worst thing - we just hope he has something else lined up by the time it all goes down.

We just went through a job loss, and though we had to take a paycut, at least he has a job!

We decided since Disney was mostly paid off, we would go this fall!

Sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip, I also will be changing jobs in a few weeks, and I made darn sure that they would let me go on our trip 6/26-7/5 and they will let me use vacation time, guess I got lucky.

I had told them about the vacation but since I will be on probation the first 6 months you can't go without pay in that time or it hurts your 6 month evaluation. So we moved it to the last week of October then I called the new job and October is blocked out and no one can take off then so now we are trying to look at nov or Dec. What a mess. It will be worth it. I am excited about the new position.

i changed employers last year in july and simply told them at the interview that i had a planned vacation coming up in august that was going to have to be part of my employment package and they said ok. most companys will comply. did you try that? it is probobly to late but it does not hurt to ask

Right there with you. I applied but was not hired because if my trip to Disney last December. But then they called and said ok, start, then go to Disney and come back. I spent 1 day in F&B and then got a job as 3rd assistant to the GM. I still got to go to Disney, got a a week off before even leaving and had a great trip.

Fast forward to this week. I just took another seasonal job. I was speaking with the manager and she was talking about people missing for all kinds of reasons. I waited and then told her that I have a Disney trip in Sept. I was not willing to cancel and if it was not ok, please just let me know now so I don't take up their time. I honestly thought they would be closed by the time of my trip.

Lucky for me, she said it was ok. I have a nice summer job and a trip to Disney. I know that I am seasonal PT worker and most people are working FT, dual income jobs.

OP, your trip is just delayed. Not canceled. You will be at Disney soon and congrats on the new job.

I had informed them and they thought it would be okay but after some checking they found I couldn't take off with out pay for the 6 month probation time.

our son is on the autism spectrum and loves going to Disney. He is different from night and day when we are there so we love to go. It is the most he talks to us and no melt downs or anything. it is wonderful.

i think we will be happier going later since it won't be so hot. Of course if I win the lottery I wouldn't have to worry about it but that just hasn't happened yet for some reason I can't figure it out.
