Hey guy :-)

Just curious if it would be appropriate to go to the Brown Derby by myself and get just a Cobb salad? It won't be busy this time of year but I don't want to offend the wait staff by just ordering the Cobb salad by myself either.

Thanks!
Cory

Can't comment on whether or not is "appropriate", although I don't know why it wouldn't be, but I'm getting one in Feb! I love the Cobb Salad at the Brown Derby. I don't see why anyone would be offended and there's no minimum order requirement that I'm aware of. Enjoy!

There's nothing wrong with just having salad for your meal, and their cobb salad is especially large and filling, I could never eat that and an entree.

My mom and go to the Brown Derby evey trip and each just get the Cobb salad. Service is excellent. Highly recommend it :cool1:

We've ordered it alone at lunch and it's fine. Although, one time my husband ordered it at dinner and I had something small (maybe soup & salad); the waiter wasn't to friendly after this. It kind of annoyed me because I felt that he thought we should be ordering more at dinner time in a classy restaurant like this. We're light eaters, but usually big tippers. Well, not in this case.

I have ordered it as my meal the last 2 times we ate there- I am with my Dh and he got an entree but there wasn't any problem with that being my order- I have done it at both lunch and dinner- I normally take some of it back in a doggy bag too.

thanks for the responses :-) Only reason I was not sure was that I'll be eating alone...good to hear I'll be ok!

Of course it's appropriate! I ordered a soup and a side salad there in July as my lunch. Don't think twice about how you'd like to order. There's no stigma for doing that!

Enjoy!

I always order it for my entree and have never had a raised eyebrow. FWIW, it's usually three or four adults in our group, and we'll all share one app, but we all like our cobb salad as our individual entree.

I'm speaking of the lunch menu.

Figure it's on the menu as an appetizer for two. That amount seems to be appropriate as a main entree for one. I mean, we've never left overly stuffed or still hungry.

It's funny you posted this! We have a 3:30 ADR at MM for a fantasmic package..and I'm still trying to figure out a way to get that cobb salad! :yay:

I LOVE that salad, and I was wondering if you can just get the cobb salad to go!

I have to say some Expensive places have cheap items on their menu that rock. One should not be embarrassed to order these items if they make you happy. I imagine that everything the Brown Derby does is tasty. Its one of my favorite places at the world. I love a good cobb salad and would not be embarrassed to order that as my entree. Go for it.

The Cobb Salad is a signature dish. It was first concocted at the original Brown Derby in Hollywood in the 1930's. It's named after the restaurant's founder, even!

There's no reason for feeling bad for ordering nothing but the salad. They serve it in an entree size, so they expect it to sbe a full-meal order. On top of that, they expect it to be a popular item.

Don't worry about it.
