We are looking to go to Boston but would like to park somewhere outside and take the T in...I am looking for any suggestions that anyone might have to offer. Thanks.

There is a large parking garage at the Quincy Adams or Alewife T stations on the Red Line, and at the Riverside stop on the Green Line. There's also the parking at Wonderland on the Blue Line. So it kind of depends on where you're actually staying - north, south or west of the city?

Which direction are you coming from? Are you coming for the day or staying at a hotel? If you are just coming for the day from Maine and can get there really early on a weekday or coming on a weekend I would recommend Oak Grove which is on the border of Malden/Melrose at the end of the orange line. You could also go to one of the commuter rail stations but then you are more dependant on time.

I'm not sure where you are going in Boston. The orange line connects with the green line at North Station, the blue line at State ST and the red line at Downtown Crossing.

Right now we are thinking about just a day trip and on a weekend. Thanks for the input so far :)

I know you said you want to take the T in but there's also the option of taking a train. There's a station in Newburyport that will take you right into North Station in Boston. It would cost more than the T and take longer but might mean less driving for you. Just another option that you may want to consider :)

I always go to the Quincy Adams stop, but I'm coming from Rhode Island, not Maine. Completely opposite direction  Just go to the T stop closest to you :)

I would highly recommend taking the commuter rail so you can relax a bit more on the train and don't need to drive as close to the city. Of course, as others have said it will depend on where in Boston you ultimately want to end up. Many of the commuter rail parking lots fill up early in the morning from commuters too.
