Going to Boston

we went to the one game that the A's lost... but we are HUGE A's fans!!!

The best part about an A's blowout is that everyone leaves in the 8th and you can move up to the first row on the A's side!! We have done it before and it is AMAZING!!! People POUR out of the parks and you have the whole place to yourself!!

I am sure that's what happened on Friday night!!

lol. we actually left right before the start of the 8th. (although we were lucky enough to be in a luxury box, so no pouring into our seats).

To the OP: How was your trip (if you are back)? :sunny:

It has been terribly hot here these past few days. I hope you stayed cool. Fenway can be hot. I saw on TV at yesterday's game, Mike Timlin (pitcher) was hosing down the crowd. I thought that was one of those "only at Fenway" moments!

Hope you enjoyed your trip and come back when it's cool. Fall is nice (we seem to not have spring anymore...just cold to muggy)

It was great. Thanks for asking. Way too short since we spent two days flying. DH & I couldn't believe how hot and humid it was, especially when it was still in the 90s at Friday's game.

We definitely have to plan another trip there.

BTW, even though we wore A's stuff, the fans were quite friendly and nice to us.

we ended up going to the game on friday night and I was surprised to see so many oakland fans there. were you there on friday? whereabouts were you sitting? hope you had a great trip!

You and I both. It was nice to scan the stands and see A's fans scattered throughout.

Yes, we were. That was the only game we went to. And what a game it was. :cheer2: Our seats were about 12 rows up from the Sox on deck "circle". Where were you?

No I wasn't there. Just watching the game from home. :sad1:

So fill us in, what did you get to do in Boston?

Let's see. We actually didn't do as much as we hoped. (I'm going to make sure we do the recommended things next trip, that's for sure.) The heat and humidity got to us and we were on PST the whole time.

Ate at Durgin Park - great pot roast. Took a tour of Fenway and went to the game on Friday. Took a trolley tour of the city. Went to Cheers. Scrolled through the Public Garden.

Oh yeah and learned the Fenway tradition that when your team is ahead by 7 or more runs, you're supposed to buy beer for everyone in your section....well at least the nice people. :rotfl2:

Hey bring some See's candy with you. YOu could probably sell it on the street corner for big bucks to people in the know!! :rotfl:

Really? Maybe next trip I'll bring some and leave it at the front desk for local DISers.

That's great to know that there are A's fans out there.

There was actually a fair amount of people still in the 8th. But were heading for the exits after "Sweet Caroline".

We thought about moving, but didn't want to make any Sox fans over there mad by "upgrading".

DH and I were amazed by how many Sox fans actually stayed for the whole game.

You didn't stay for "Sweet Caroline"?

I wanted to see more than one game, but seeing this in person was priceless.

oh thank goodness. you weren't the one in the blonde ponytail on the 3rd base line then. (phew). There was a lot of commotion around these 2 oakland fans and security kept coming and talking to them. Thinking maybe they had had a wee bit too much to drink, not sure, but they were on the obnoxious side. The rest of the oakland fans we saw were just having a great time (and why not, with their team winning?).

We were lucky enough to be in a luxury box right above the 3rd base line. By lucky I mean, omg, it was hot and mostly breezeless that night, wasn't it? Steamy. But we had a nice air conditioned room that we could pop in and out of.

Glad you had a good trip....too bad about the heat, but hey, those wins more than make up for it, right?

That was definitely not me. I am usually quite vocal during games, but didn't want to start anything so I kept it to a minimal. And tried to have DH do the same.

There was no breeze at all. It was a bit comical when they announced the game time temperature (which was 91) and the crowd groaned.

Winning makes things a lot more bearable.

We are usually only rude to Yankee fans :rotfl2:

Yankee fans should be banned from Fenway Park!!!!!!!!
