Just had to post this! Really excited. :woohoo: My wife and I are going to stay for a week in early February. We have wanted to go to Oahu so we could see Pearl Harbor so we get to enjoy Aulani too!!

We love Maui so we hope we enjoy Oahu too. I guess we will have to start planning what we are going to do while we are there. Relaxation is priority number one, but definitely want to check out the island as well. So looking forward to this trip!

Our home resort is Aulani, you will love it  We spent last Easter there and are booked for Easter 2013 after a quick stop in DL. We were blown away by how beautiful the resort was and how easy it was to kill off a day. We've been to Oahu a few times before so we did take a day to head up to the North Shore (Ted's Bakery is a must....especially the chocolate pie and croissants!) Given the time of year you are going the waves up there will be huge and awesome to see. Definitely rent a car, there is plenty to take in on Oahu. Maui has been our favourite for many years, but now with Aulani it could be a while until we make it back! Although last year we did a week on each island it is was wonderful...almost like two separate vacations they are sooo different!

We just joined DVC and plan on making Aulani our first vacation! Have a great time and let the countdown begin!:)

I'll second the You'll Love Aulani! We spent 3 nights last January and are going back for 5 nights in December. Very relaxing and wonderful service.

Thanks for the replies, we are looking forward to the trip. Can't wait!

We have been to Maui twice and wondered about Oahu but we loved Aulani. We were there for 9 days and only left for 1 full day of touring, the rest was all at the resort it was too good to leave.

When visiting Oahu, don't miss:

Pearl Harbor - get there early!
The Punch Bowl - very moving
Diamond Head - great climb, great view!
North Shore - February bringsd whales & Surfers!
Dole Plantation - Touristy, but Motherland of the Dole Whip!
Duke's on Wikiki - Great and inexpensive lunch buffet!

Thanks for some ideas. Starting to look into places to go visit while we are there.

I know this may sound silly to some of you, but - we are going in 63 days:banana: and I am wondering what to pack. I know the temps and weather trends, but I grew up in the south and always pack up my white pants (shorts and long) after labor day. Can I wear them in Hawaii? Do they even care about fashion "rules" there??

Not silly at all. Hawaii is wonderfully casual and white pants will be perfectly acceptable. It is as if the seasons don't exist. I regretted not packing a thin, but warm layer for the family. The evening breezes, even in early June, were cool. I happened to have packed a shawl for my summer dresses which worked out quite well. Have fun!

A must for us going back will be Hanauma Bay. We went in December, the weather was unbelievably awful, but we have NEVER had such an amazing snorkeling experience. HUGE, colorful fish swim within inches of you. Totally worth the early morning arrival!!!

YEA!!!! You will LOOVE Aulani!!! The pictures do not do it justice, I thought it was exceptionally beautiful. Loved everything about it and can't wait to go back!!
