Going to AK at 1pm; how to use Genie+ prior to arrival?

Hello! I need some advice on stacking my Genie +, beginning at 7 am, for a park that we will not enter until the afternoon. I hope my questions make sense!

On our first Disney day, we will be flying in and arriving around 11:15 am; then, luggage, Uber to All Stars, etc. And we hope to be able to get into Animal Kingdom perhaps around 2 pm that day. I expect it to be open until 7 pm that day. This is late January and I expect "lower" crowds...

My question is - I will be easily by my phone at 7 am and can secure my first Genie + ride, and likely also my ILL for FoP. Then, I can hop on my phone again as soon as the plan touches down to get my second Genie + ride around 11:15 am. Then, maybe we can assume I'm on a park bus or something around 1:15 (2 hours later) to reserve a possible third Genie + ride. So, by the time I walk in the park, I *might* have 3-4 rides all stacked for a fun afternoon / evening!

Most importantly, at 7 am, when I want to grab an ILL for FoP and possibly my first Genie +, will I have an option to select times that are LATER in the day? As an example, I pulled up the app around 7:30 am today, and the ILL time for FoP said 11:15 am. I don't want 11:15 am. When I click that box, will the app give me a choice for a later time? Or am I forced to just "wait it out" for the slots to fill up a bit, and then later times to be available? Same question, but for a Genie + ride, like Na'Vi or Safari or something? Am I able to select the Genie + but then on the next screen choose a later time?

I'm afraid I'll be stuck just "waiting" for things to fill up a bit. My plane takes off at 8:30 so I'll have to shut down my app and won't be able to resume until about 11:15am. By that time, I expect many things to be gone.

Assuming I can get at least one ILL and maybe one Genie +, I assume I will be able to get these items in between 2-7 pm: FoP, Na'Vi, Everest, Safari, Lion King show (maybe). That's about one hour per item?

For ILLs, like Avatar FoP, you will get to choose from available times and can choose one late in the day. However, Genie+ LLs are issued on a next available time basis. You have no choice. So, if there are morning times available, you will be given a morning time, and your G+ LL will have expired by the time you get to the park. Today, it seems like there were only morning times available for all G+ attractions before 8:30. Some people have used their flight's onboard wifi to book G+ LLs while in the air, but even then you may not be able to book much earlier than your touchdown time of 11:15, based on today's data. It's just a "misfortune" of going to a Disney park on a low crowd day! :) On the other hand, you should be able to get Navi, Safaris and Everest (and something else, like Dinosaur) all between when you land at 11:15 and the end of the day. You shouldn't need a G+ LL for the Lion King show.

Hopefully you have another day at AK because I would not plan much on a travel day there could be a flight delay. As Tom said the LL is the next available time so you won’t be able to book that until you get to your hotel as you have an hour window of the time you are given. For the $ILL you can schedule that at 7 am but I would hate for you to pick 2 pm which is good until 3 pm but as mentioned there could be a flight delay and could miss it. Also, when we were there last year around Thanksgiving would see one time and pick it and went through the steps but when I got to the screen to pay saw the time had changed so be careful of that.

Thank you for this information. And I will read those tips more carefully next time! It sounds like maybe I'll only be able to get the FoP as I can chose the time (being careful when I get to check out screen - I understand that as it happened to us last time in April!). Then, I might have to wait until we land around 11:15 to see what I can secure at that time! Thanks all.

Mammoth Club has a YouTube video about stacking Genie+ LLs after 1 pm that you might find helpful. You can start selecting LLs at 7 am and then every 120 minutes after the park opens or when you chose your previous LL. So you may be able to get three LLs stacked before you even get there.

At AK, I think Safari tends to bump out later first, so I would keep an eye on that time. and then fill in from there.

I am re-opening this question, in light of the new Genie + update that allows you to adjust the times of your Genie + reserved Lightening Lanes! Bear in mind I might get into the park around 2 or 3???

So, at 7 am, and again at 11:15, in theory I could book two rides for later that day.

One way: I will see later times in the MDE app and select them. For example, wouldn't it be super to grab Safari around 4 pm, and Na'vi at 5 pm, with an ILL purchased for FOP at 3 pm!

A second way: I can reserve two rides with earlier return times, and then adjust the times. For example, let's pretend at 7 am, I reserve Na'vi for 12 pm noon. After I reserve, I could wait until maybe 7:30 or 8 am, and then modify. By that point, maybe later times would be available, like 5 pm?

My only catch here would be if I reserve a time before I land, and I do NOT modify, and therefore miss my ride time - I know I cannot book another G+ for that same ride that day.

What do you all think???
