We were at WDW last week and made it to all of the deluxe resorts to see the Christmas decorations. With the exception of the Contemporary, each one is more fabulous than the next. (The CR has lobby level construction going on, so they don't have much up.) Every resort has decorations that are elaborately themed...e.g. animal themed at AKL, nautical themed at Yacht Club. I thought that Boardwalk Inn was the prettiest. Three (Beach Club, BWI and GF) have large gingerbread structures, and the smell is fabulous.

If you are at Epcot, it is easy to take an hour and walk out of the international gateway and visit the BC, YC and BWI. If you are at MK, it is easy to take the monorail to see the CR, Poly and GF. If you get off at the CR, you can take a boat to the WL. Don't forget to look at the display windows in the resort gift shiops. They've also done some very cute, creative things.

It was lovely. They have a big tree wth lots of sailboats on it and a Christmas tabel top "Village" set up with a train, ski lift, etc.

How early do resorts and WDW start decorating? Will they be up before Thanksgiving?

We arrived on the evening of November 16th, which was the Friday before Thanksgiving. The parks had their decorations up. (Someone told us they decorate the parks around Halloween, MK being the last because of the halloween party there.)

I believe that the decorations went up at the Poly on Sunday night or Monday night. We went to see the Epcot area resorts on Monday night and they were totally decorated. On Tuesday we saw the monorail resorts and WL. So, we at least know that by Monday of Thanksgiving week, everything had been decorated.
