DH gave me a solo trip for a week in May. I did a 4 day one a couple of years ago for my 50th birthday present ... But not a full week!
So, for those of you who always have a spouse and kids along, what things would you do to take advantage of being solo?

Flower and Garden booths. Do they have any special events for Flower and Garden like Food and Wine?
Some kind of tour that would bore the family to tears, but that I would like (or some kind of tour that would be too expensive to take the whole family, we have 5 people)

For sure, one of the backstage tours at the parks, maybe even two.
I've done the big one (was it backstage magic?) with DH when we did an adult trip ... and Wild Africa Trek twice with DD - but I'll have to look at some of them that are 16 and up (DD won't be 16 for three more years). Good idea!

Definitely doing this one! It's one of the reasons I chose May! I'm looking forward to seeing the fest details come out!

What i'd do is book a chefs table at flying fish for example....i think V&A has it too, but of course that's far more expensive. That would be a ton of fun to do alone though.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just read that flying fish will be closed from Feb.2016 until fall 2016.:( Perhaps somewhere else then?

I hesitate to do any extra special dining alone - DH loves gourmet food, so I'd want to do that with him (we did V&A for an anniversary once - fabulous). He's also an architect and I know he'd want to be in on any conversation with an imagineer!

When I take my solo trip someday hopefully soon, I want to visit all resorts I have not been to see and also go into all the shops I want to without feeling rushed. I want to just enjoy doing things at my own pace! I hope you have a wonderful solo trip!

I would play golf in the mornings, head to the pool in the afternoon, head to whatever park the crowd calendar sent me to in the evening and not feel rushed or pushed to get to anything or everything.

Definitely a tour!! I did KTTK tour, on a solo trip, last fall and loved it. I'm going solo, in May, as well - I'm thinking of a spa treatment as my 'treat' this time. :) Have fun!!

I just got back from 2 solo trips this past year. Definitely do the Keys to the Kingdom tour if you can. I did that as well as 3 Halloween parties and 3 Christmas parties! :)

Me, being a cheap person :), would go for things my family wouldn't want to do but I wanted to do. For example, *I* have never ridden Dumbo (husband and son have) so I would do that. I would stand and look at the tiles on the walkway under Cinderella's Castle. I would gaze at the mural at Conservation Station at Animal Kingdom. I would slowly, and I mean *very* slowly walk through the Maharajah Jungle Trek at Animal Kingdom and soak in the theming. I would sit along the Boardwalk, have a piece of pizza (or two) and a glass of sangria (or two) and kick back and relax, listening to the Friendship boats and the chatter of families or singles or whoever going about their day. I'd walk around the Tree of Life several times and not on the trails the humans normally take but the ones that are overlooked to see more animals. I'd see Disney World with small glimpses that I would never see except on my own.

Spa day. I have used the Disney run Spas as well as the Mandara Spa at the Dolphin.

I much prefer the Madara Spa. The post treatment room is much more relaxing. I usually lie on a chaise, sipping tea or water for a long while after my massage. Sometimes I even fall asleep for 20 minutes or so. They make you feel very welcome to linger.

The spa at GF was nice, but the pre treatment and post treatment room was the same room, there was a lot of comings and goings and the chairs were not as comfortable for savoring in that wonderful post massage feeling

Totally going to spend a while with my tigers on the jungle trek! My family always hurries me along.

On my last solo trip, I found a spot in the corner (out of the way of others) and watched the gorillas for probably 30 minutes. So fascinating! And so nice to take my time and watch them with no worries.
