The last time I went to Disneyland I was 12 years old and I'd love to visit just once as an adult. I've done a solo trip to WDW last November staying at ASMusic and loved every minute of it! Going to Los Angeles by myself makes me nervous. I can't afford a Disneyland hotel, it would have to be a more budget friendly option surrounding the park. Can anyone recommend a hotel? Is it safe in that area of Los Angeles to be walking around? Any tips, advice would be helpful.

I'm a solo female visitor from Ireland. I have stayed at Motel 6 Main gate, which is on Disney Way multiple times and I have booked again for June 2019. I use the ART bus which stops in the carpark of Motel 6. That area is relatively safe, I live in an unsafe area so I guess I am very aware of personal safety.

I have also stayed at Desert Inn and Suited, on Harbor which is across the street from the Disney pedestrian entrance .it's more expensive than Motel 6, and that's why I haven't booked there.

The Anaheim Resort Area is generally pretty safe and there will always be a lot of people walking up and down Harbor Blvd. each night after the park closes. You may see some panhandlers or someone performing for tips, but that's about it. Obviously, the closer you are to the DLR gates the better, so I would look at the Tropicana or right in that area. I think anywhere right in the Harbor & Katella area should be fine from a safety point of view.

Last year found a great deal at Holiday Inn express and suites. Prices seem to have risen, but still a great deal for that area. I tried to post a link, but don’t have permissions yet. If you look it up on the Holiday Inn site, there are three. This one is the express and suites. It’s super close and very safe area to walk, even at night.

Thanks, this is one of the hotels I was looking at staying. I will look into the ART bus too.

Has anyone stayed at the Kings Inn Anaheim or around that area? I'm finding the best deal here for my dates at the end of September.

I can't speak for the hotel itself, however the area is fine. Just note that it looks like you have to walk past another hotel to get to the street. You can then walk Katella to Harbor or go the other way up through Anaheim Garden Walk which is pretty nice. You could also cross to the Disney parking area across Katella and take their shuttle (you do not have to park there to do that), but you'd kind of be walking the opposite way. If I was already on Katella, I'd just walk to DL.

You might want to ask this question on the Disneyland forum or ask a mod to move it.

I agree. The Disneyland Board folks will be much more helpful since they have more experience with the area (You'll see me there though).

I got back this week from a 4 day solo visit to Disneyland and stayed at Four Points by Sheraton Anaheim. Seemed to be a safe area. I did not walk to the parks, myself, but was told it was about a 25-30 min stroll if your're feeling up to it. I chose Uber/Lyft and was there in under 10 minutes each time (they also have a shuttle). I would recommend this hotel for a solo traveler.

The Four Points (used to be the Menage and was marketed mainly as a business hotel) is probably on the outer edge of what we'd consider "walkable" on the DLR board. If using strollers or with young kids, I wouldn't really recommend it as walkable. One thing to note is that the walk is downhill going toward the parks, but uphill returning to the hotel. This can make a big difference when your tired feet have already covered 12 miles of parkhopping that day! Using Uber or Lyft is a good idea -- you can use the Harbor or DTD drop off points. Harbor is closer, but DTD tends to have shorter lines at bag check during peak hours.

I do DL solo and I've always stayed at Best Western Anaheim Inn, right opposite the entrance, anything on South Harbor Drive around that area is convenient. Look on Google maps to give yourself an idea of the lay of the land. Trip advisor is also a good reference place. I'm going back to BWAI in September. It ain't posh, but, it's clean and tidy, the staff are lovely and it's closer to the parks than Paradise Pier hotel.
