Going solo/pictures at character meals

I'm going on a last minute solo trip this coming weekend. I have no problems going solo and have done so many times, but I've never done a character meal. I've decided to do Minnie's breakfast at the Plaza Inn and was wondering about meeting the characters and taking pictures. Is there a photopass photographer with each character or do guests just take their own photos as the characters come around? I basically want to know if I'll have to ask other guests to take photos anytime I want one with a character. Thanks!

At all of the character meals I've been to, there isn't a photographer with the characters as they come around to the tables. We've had to take our own pictures.

The first thing that comes to mind, if you didn't want to ask others, is to just set one of these up on the table to take the picture for you (I'm assuming you have a smartphone).

**** Edit **** There's one exception to this I just remembered. At Ohana in WDW, a photographer is with Stitch as he comes around for the breakfast.

I've been there solo and I don't remember any photographers with any characters. I have had other guests help out as well as servers. Servers tell me that taking photos is as much their job as anything else is and not to feel shy about asking. I also recommend that you keep your eyes open for the character handler. They have always been happy to take a photo for me in the past.

Thank you both, this is very helpful info! I'm looking forward to this experience!

Angrose, so glad you are going to Minnie's, have a wonderful time! I've been there twice now and it is so much fun. I am planning to go again end of November. If you or anyone is going to be at the park then let me know and it'd be fun to have a Minnie's meet with the Christmassy dressed characters :)

I have gone solo on the character meal..

Some of the characters would not come to my table as they thought my kids were away at the moment... I am not sure what the solution is except perhaps a sign indicating that you are going solo....

I've done virtually every character meal solo and had a great time. Servers often offered to take pictures or nearby tables stepped up. Another trick is to ask the character to find someone to take your picture together... who's going to turn down Chip with a camera?

Thanks, I'm really excited! My next trip after this one will hopefully be in October. I don't have any plans right now for going during the Christmas season, but you never know!

Ugh, I don't think I could do the sign thing. That is just calling a little bit TOO much attention to my solo-self. I will just have to be more aggressive about waiving them down I guess.

I really like this idea and will definitely try it. Thanks!

I wouldn't want to have a solo sign either but that is a good idea, SplashMo,

:santa: let me know if you do, Angrose, I'm going just for a couple days really, Monday, November 28th- leaving Wednesday the 30th. I may be doing the breakfast Wednesday with my dad. I sure wouldn't mind at all doing it twice and meeting you and anyone else on Tuesday. I know we have time to plan just putting this out there!

I don't mean to hijack, but on my solo trip I'm thinking of doing the earliest character breakfast I can at the carnation cafe on November 2, 3 or 4 - and would welcome someone to join me, just send me a note.
