Going out of DCA for Lunch

While researching for this trip, I found a few restaurants in Anaheim on Yelp which I would love to try. Sushi and Hawaiian BBQ. They are about 10-15 mins drive on Google Map. I will be staying at Disneyland Hotel with a rental car. I will be in the park for 5 days, and wants to plan for those lunches for 2 or 3 days. Is it doable??

I think so... providing you can actually drag yourself away from the parks!! 5 days is a nice long stretch and you will definitely want to plan some relaxing breaks. Maybe combine lunch with a pool break? You don't want to miss those DLH pools!

I also think it's possible to go outside of the resort area for a meal, but it's mostly a matter of whether you can get yourself (and your family) to leave the parks! DLH charges for parking by the night if you're staying there, so it shouldn't be a problem to come and go.

This!
There are so many great places to eat interesting food in the parks that I honestly wouldn't want to spend valuable park time going anyplace else.
You may want to go to the Disney web site and check out all the different restaurants and what they offer before heading out of the park.

We go offsite to eat dinner all the time so, I don't see it being a problem since you have a rental car. A neat place we went is called Ruby's Diner. You should check it out.

We took a metro bus all the way to Buena Park one afternoon to eat at the Medieval Times show. Sure we lost some park time, but when you are there 5 days it's nice to take a break and enjoy the air conditioning.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I'm not understanding why you think this wouldn't be doable?

Assuming you mean logistics wise "doable", definitely yes except we do this for dinner. Our usual routine is hit the parks at opening and go hard until 4-5pm-ish, eating a very light lunch somewhere in the parks. Then head to the rental car and hit up Red Robin or In-N-Out for burgers, etc.., then crash in the hotel room for a while and head back to the parks around 7 or 8pm-ish until close.

We always like to check out a few places outside the parks for meals.....it is definitely something worth doing.

Thanks everyone. I will try it for a least one day. Lunch then a pool break. I'm from New York and tried Hawaiian plate lunch once at Waikiki. I really want my family to try "1 scoop of macoroni salad and 2 scoops of rice".

I was asking doable or not because going out of site for lunch was never something I will consider at WDW. With everything sort of close by, I just wanted to know if it's something people would do.

The "real world" is much closer by at DLR, so in that way, yes, it much easier to go off-site to have a meal at DLR. That being said, for my group, unless we specifically plan to go off-site, it doesn't happen. We usually end up just grabbing a quick meal in the park and then keep going. Even on pool days, we tended to grab a bite in the park, use the walk back to the hotel to digest, then swim for a bit, clean-up and then head back to the parks. Just keep in mind, Anaheim is a normal city, so depending on where you're going (and when), parking could be an issue. So it's best to know where there is parking nearby to where you want to go (we tried going to the Anaheim Packing District on a Saturday evening and it was tough finding parking nearby).

Thank you for the tips. I will check out the parking situation. It didn't cross my mind before.
