All these early packers! I leave mine until the night before On bank holiday Monday I did sort some of the surprise gifts and non clothing items into our hand luggage bags though. It was great fun and I felt so sneaky hiding them before school came out.
I plan to video it. If it comes out okay, I thought I could post the video clip on here. I am not breaking the news personally. I have made (and keep editing ) a presentation on the laptop set to music which starts off asking for ideas for something nice to do for the weekend - complete with suggestions about shopping, going for a hike, dinner at a restaurant ..... It takes its time building up and actually announces the trip several times in different ways as I don't know whether she will 'get it' the first time as there is a fair amount of text and I have deliberately made it so she needs to keep reading and not be distracted by the flashing and floating images to get the whole story.
TBH I have no idea what to expect. It may be an anti climax, she might not believe me, she could go into meltdown I have accepted that I can't have a preconceived idea as to how the news will be taken. I will let you all know though
I'll happily dance to an October countdown - not thought about it being next month - that sounds great.
My DD is starting reception tomorrow.
Once we've both made it through that i'll be in full holiday countdown mode.
Suitcases were got down from the loft on Monday and are on the spare bed. I like to have a place to put stuff we'll need - suncream is in there, some holiday clothes. I wont actually pack until a few days before.
