Going into MK through the utilidor

I've seen this done, and I've heard it's allowed but I wanted to verify. Is it ok to go onstage from the utilidors in normal clothing? I've seen many people change after a shift and just go upstairs to get on rides. I need to go into the park for something, but I live so close to MK cast parking and it would be so much quicker to go through the utilidor! Thanks! :goodvibes

i used them all the time and never ran into a problem. the only thing i was told to avoid was going in and out of the doors that are in the shops. When i was working in fantasy fair, a huge group of cm's came through the door to backstage in their street clothes and it was a huge distraction i felt, especially since that store isn't really big. I don't know if guests noticed though. i had my favorite ways to enter the park, usually in fantasyland or front of the park/main street, since I worked both places, i was familiar with them.

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking of using the stairway that leads to the outside of the castle by Castle Couture.

When we went through park orientation at the beginning of June (I work at MK) they told us it was a HUGE no-no. One of our facilitators mentioned he lives behind Magic Kingdom, but unless he's coming to work he always drives around to TTC, because you can be disciplined for it. I've also heard of other CPs being told off for entering the park through the utilidors. On the other hand, I do know of plenty of people who have brought street clothes and grabbed a snack or stayed for the fireworks after work, and no one seems to have a problem with that. I feel like it's only a problem if it's your day off, though I can't see how they could tell the difference in the tunnels.

Moral of the story: Seems situational to me!

My manager says that there's no good way to monitor that entrance, but that the company does strongly discourage it and if they do catch you it can be grounds for termination. She did say if you're working it's ok to change into street clothes and get a fastpass at lunch and then do rides after you're done at work... hence the reason it's so hard to monitor who's going in after work and who's going in on the day off.

It's up to you if you're willing to risk it or not.

Well I didn't have a vehicle, so I took the CP buses. And there were times that I stopped at Cast Connection or Company D before going to the park and I don't think they'd actually expect us to take the bus all the way back to the TTC. That's absurd. So my friends and I would just take the cast bus to the Utilidors and put what we bought in our lockers then go up to the park. We always used the stairwell that leads to the cast smoking section behind the Fairytale Garden. It was easy to sneak on and off stage because it's right next to the bathroom. I never encountered a problem with it, but if you're going to park in the cast lot I wouldn't stay for forever. Be considerate of your fellow cms who are going to work. That's probably a big reason it's frowned upon. If too many cms are coming to the park to play, cms who are coming to work won't have a place to park or will have to park far away and then walk back after a long night at work. Another one would be that they wouldn't have an accurate number of people who were in the park that day.

I had to go in to meet with a manager, and I even told her how I came in and there was no problem! I wouldn't do it if I was visiting the parks for fun, just if I need to pop in for something like that.

I used that entrance and the entrance near pooh's all the time(between friars nook and mrs. potts, dont know if they changed those names yet), i also used the one by castle couture(when it used to be tinks treasures...rip...), if we were in a hurry, we used the one by ariels grotto, but that was before all the construction. normally these were only used like some of the above mentioned, if it was after or before i had work. I had my managers see us in the tunnels all the time after we had changed and they never got upset at us. if I was going into the park on a day off, i liked to go through the main gate, more magical that way. :)

Yeah, I mean, since I didn't have a car it was different. If I could get out at the ttc then I would...that's like 10 minutes that I didn't have to be on the bus. Although, I think there were more times that I came in through the main entrance then went to the utilidors to change for work.

Technically, you're not really supposed to be in the utilidors if you're not working. Just be smart about what doors you're using and have your ID out at all times when you're backstage in day clothes.

I only did it once (on my second to last day). All other times I went through the TTC. I worked at the MK and I didn't want to be reminded of work on my days off in the parks by going through the tunnels. :thumbsup2
