Is September really peak season at WDW golf courses? We wanted to play Palm but the earliest tee time available is 1.5 hours later than we prefer. The next earliest time was forty minutes later at a different course. I took it but am disappointed about not getting Palm. Today is exactly 60 days out so I couldn't have called any sooner. I was trying for 7:00AM ... it's September and it will be HOT ... gotta play as early as possible - guess that's what the other players were thinking, too. :sad2:

We could not get the Palm either. And we were able to book at 90 days out since we are staying onsite. We just went ahead and went with the price slice at Magnolia.

OMG! I had no idea I could book 90 days out and we're staying on site. Even the information for our package states 60 days. So you couldn't get what you wanted at Palm, either? Guess it's a popular course.

DH just informed me that when we went in May, Palm was open but it was scheduled to go down for a long maintenence. He had a difficult time getting tee times-it seems 2 or 3 courses were closed almost every day (on a rotating schedule, but Magnolia was closed the whole time). DH says WDW should build another golf course or two, because it seems like the courses are getting so hard to get on.

I havent booked my times yet either but you can go online to at disneyworld.com and book them. I have been checking and havent been able find a two-fer like last year. Even called and they couldnt tell me anything.
When did you set up the price slice?

I think they would be shutting down Palm and Magnolia right around the end of the month to prepare it for the Funai Classic. I played both last year and shot and 85-84. Came really close to getting an ace on the the one with the Mickey Mouse Bunker.

Anyone need a 4th anytime Sep24-29? Im a 10 handicap and am open to playing with just about anyone. I dont take the game to serious and just like to have fun.

I set up the price slice exactly 90 days in advance. We have a 10:08 tee time for September 15.

I was confused...I thought the price slice was a package deal for 2 or 3 rounds of golf. I knew that I could set up the lower price tee-times in advance.

Oh well. Guess no one is playing golf that week that needs a fourth.

DH was able to book Magnolia course at the 90 day point as well, for Sept. He got the time he wanted. Actually, he booked it for one day, then about 2 weeks later decided to change it to another day, no problem. So, I'm not sure why so many are having a hard time??

What are your dates in Sept?? ~~ Sorry, just looked at all of your tickers, seems like we'll be there before all of you. I'm sure he wouldn't have minded anyone joining him. Maybe someone else will post about it.

We booked the Palm at exactly 90 days out and got a 8:39 tee time on Oct. 5th. Couldn't find any discounts yet, but we're still looking.

The heat plays a huge factor in the scheduling of tee times because so many are trying to avoid it. I played Eagle Pines on July 19th and teed off at 12:10. The course was almost empty. I caught up to a guy at the fourth hole and played in with him. He was a marshal at the Palm and Magnolia and told me that they were by far the most crowded courses. He said he always plays Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge on his days off because its much less crowded. I live in the Houston area and our weather is about the same as Orlando's so playing in the heat is no problem for me. I usually never play if we go during the winter because the prices are so much more. Eagle Pines was $55 for cart and green fee when I played. Osprey Ridge was closed the week I was there and Magnolia and Palm had a lot of rounds scheduled so I just went to Eagle Pines. Another thing I found out was that residents can get a pass for the summer that allows unlimited play on all the Disney courses from June 1st through September 15 after 3:00 PM. It only costs $179. Another reason I wish I lived closer to WDW.

The marshal I played with was interesting telling me stories about working at Magnolia/Palm. He said they had a family of four show up during peak season wanting to play golf. They had never played before and thought it would be fun. They had the wrong clothes and no clubs. They bought all four proper attire, rented clubs, and paid for the greens fees. They were terrible since they had never played and decided to quit after 9 holes. They paid over $1,000 for the experience and said they had a good time. I guess they figured like all the other magic at Disney they would just be able to play and to them it was just another part of the vacation.

By the way I had one of my best rounds shooting a 78 with four birdies including 8, 9. and ten. I was two under after the tenth hole.

The price slice is a discount after 10:00am. I believe it is August and September. The price on it for Magnolia was 55 a person. :sunny:

See, now I am on the fence.

I really want to play down there again but I paid for an 8 day MYW park hopper with my package. I feel that I would be wasting Twice the money if I did go play. First the day of park hopping (yes, I know I can to the parks before/after but its the principle...I know, I know..Im cheap :teeth: ) and then again with the tee time. Ill probably look to do a price slice.

Good to know about Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge. I really would like to play Lake Buena Vista. If I timed it right the family could come by on the boat to or from Downtown and they could see me on the tee box. Last year when I played, it was during spring break, so premium to play. I called Disney and they said they had a 2 round special for 200. (it was 150 to play just one round).

I live just north of Dallas and played yesterday. Temp at the course was 103. Couple weeks ago I played and it was 107. As long as you stay hydrated, can keep moving and find some shade sometimes, its good.

Oh, lots and lots of sunscreen help too..

We usually go in November and have not had a problem on any of the Disney courses.

For us, because we're DVC members, we found that the best bet was to buy one or two season passes (for $89) which allows one person and 3 guests, per pass, to play any of the courses for $55 w/cart. Considering we usually have 7 or 8 golfers, and we play each course once, it works out in our favor (considering most are around $100 for a round during that time a year).
