Going in May...have heard mixed reviews?

We've done mid May twice. Each time was ridiculously heat. Not July and August hot, but still very warm.
Crowds weren't terrible. Except lots of school groups doing "every year graduation" events. Saw groups with "graduating from" 1st through 12th grade t-shirts.

In terms of weather - I like May. It's not as hot June, July, and August, though you can have hot days (upper 80's/low 90's). I don't think the humidity is as bad in May and I think you have a decent change of have multiple days in the low/mid 80's. And depending WHEN you go - it may drop into the 70's, especially in the morning or after sunset. I'd pick May over June/July/August in terms of weather for sure! Love bugs, once you get over the initial shock of them if they are new to you, are tolerable. They aren't really in the parks, just around the resorts. Disney does "some" treating of them - but a few still might sneak into your resort room on occasion. May is one of my favorite months at Disney because I like to be in shorts/T-shirt all day and not worrying about getting cold; and it's great for visiting the pool (when March can be a little cool for my preferred weather for pool time).

I thought all the tickets were extended to December 2021?

May is hot and humid, but not as humid and stormy as Aug/Sept.

Unless you are driving, love bugs aren’t that bad. If your driving, love bugs are very messy.

Here is a weather analysis I found

Hahahaha I went to school at UCF and driving on 417 north of Oviedo on the bridge over Lake Jessup was HORRIBLE.......like not a single spot on your grill not covered with them.......the memory amuses me.....

I can’t imagine them being a nuisance to someone walking around unless you walked down a deserted walkway and ran into a swarm......but that’s never happened to me.....I don’t think....if it did, it wasn’t memorable enough for me to tell you.....

My friend and I were aiming for first week in May this year.....we can deal with heat more than crowds (seeing that we had 4+ years at UCF and I’m a Florida gal anyway) and May seemed like a good idea (and a change) in contrast to our September trips that we normally take for F&W (change for F&G!) and the horrendous crowds in October we ran into....

We have done early April and May a number of times. April is my favorite time to go but May is not bad. I'm from Georgia so it's not really that hot, it doesn't rain as much as the summer and I can't say I've ever really noticed the bugs. Bonus, during normal times you have F&G.

We've been going to Disney early May for the last 3 or 4 years. It seems to us that there is a big difference from the front end of May to the back end. Like ten years ago we use to go over Memorial Holiday but we stopped because of how hot it was. We find the beginning of May to be very nice. It is hotter than March, which is our other optimal time to go. Right now I am toying with the idea of going over July 4 but I think I am probably going to pop that because we when in June 2019 and it was just horrible (basically you have to live in the pool).

We enjoy May and have booked another trip for May. I find anything better than our August trip. But mid May crowds weren’t bad, not sure what it will look like in 2021.

No hurricanes in May.

Many have chimed in, but all I would add is it can be warmer in May than you might expect, so if you check the weather before you arrive and be prepared.

We went in August this past year totally dreading the heat combo with masks. It was bad, but not nearly as bad as we had anticipated. There were a few moments when we were close to heat exhaustion, but after doing August I can safely say it’s doable, at least for us. Lots of lunch dining reservations and indoor rides in the hottest part of the day helps, along with fans, cooling towels and umbrellas. It also helped that it was just as hot and humid where we live, so we were already acclimated to it by August. We really enjoyed that we didn’t need to bring jackets/sweatshirts and that we were never cold swimming. It wasn’t our favorite time of the year weather-wise, but we’d definitely go again at that time!

We are planning a late May trip this year, as our schools get out before Memorial Day and we know we can handle the heat now.

We have been in May quiet a few times. Recent May trips 2017 - it rained 5 out of the 7 days. May 2018 - Love bugs were out of control. May 2019 - Great week!!! May 2020 - no trip/COVID.

I would choose early May too if you have a choice.

We've gone a couple times end of May. It's hot, but it seems less humidity/rain. I prefer May to June, July, August. August is no for me. I sent my family without me.

First ever late May visit in 2019. (Usually go in January and late October or early November.) May visit - Two days it was low 90s. The rest of my eight days in the 80s and beautiful. So much depends on individual. My significant other would never go to WDW in late spring, summer, or early fall. Yes, it was warm but I adjusted accordingly and loved my trip to enjoy the Garden Show.

Late May was just as hot as mid July but without the rain from what I remember..... If you don't like June, July or August because of the heat you won't like late May so like others have said opt for early May....

All of the feedback I’ve gotten about going in May hasn’t been very good. I refuse to go in June, July or August. I’ve done it before; way way too hot and crowded. Our tickets that we bought this year but didn’t get to use expire in August.

I’d rather not go in March or April. So May was my choice. But people are saying it’s insanely hot and really bad love bug issues. I’ve been at the end of April/beginning of May and it wasn’t that bad.

Thoughts?
We have always gone in either April or early May. The advantage of May is that is far less crowded. It is getting warm but not unbearably so. Have fun!

Mid to late April can be very good when Easter is early, like this year it ‘s 4/4/21 or in 2024 it’s March 31. Usually less rain in April and one layer of sunblock is enough. The thick crowds have left but the hours are usually still generous.

My family has done April May and June. In our experiences May and June are pretty much the same temperature wise. Our favorite has always been April. It’s warm but the humidity isn’t usually as bad, actually it’s been beautifully perfect weather. Since Easter is early in April maybe give one of the last weeks in April a try, I don’t think you’d regret it.

We've done mid to late May and have dealt with love bugs and yellow bees (at FW). Neither had any big affect on the trip. As far as temps go May is warm but tolerable. Crowds and temps just go up as the summer goes on. May is ideal. Have Fun!

Last time we went was in May, and it rained nearly every day, so it was soggy but we still had a great time.

From 1989 through 2012 we went at least once a year. Many times it was either in May or September. Those were in my opinion the best times to go, at least for crowds (Covid has made the crowds issue a crapshoot). The weather was good for us.
Love Bugs. Having gone during the above times we had love bugs on most trips. They are harmless and just a little pain in the neck when walking. Unfortunately, Love bugs appear here twice a year. May and September. They do kind of get into houses and cars but again, they are only an inconvenience.
We've lived here for about 5 years or so now and except for July and August when it's really hot, the weather is very tolerable to us. Especially no snow.
