But doesn't mind others eating meat. I'd like to go to the best vegetarian resteraunt for her sake a few nights. I'll also have a 6yo with us. I've read about the steak houses and have a pretty good idea where I want to eat one night :thumbsup2 . I'd just like some suggestions on the best vegetarian places to eat. Also, do these places have a dress code?

Thanks

Just went with my sis in December. She is a veg-head. They will make a veg meal for you if you call the day before and let them know, wherever you eat. She had one at Liberty Tree Tavern and I have seen the one at 'Ohana. Some of the good places were:
Boma (something for everyone)
Marrakesh
Tusker House has an excellent veggie sandwich

If you go to breakfast and it's family style, just ask them to put the meat on a different plate and she can eat the potatoes and bread and eggs if she's not strict veggie. Disney is very accomodating, but you usually have to let them know or ask.

Last fall, they had a an awesome veggie sandwich on focaccia bread, but when we were there last month, they had changed it to this barely edible thing in a pita that was yucky.

DD and I are both vegetarians and I can honestly say that I had wonderful meals on our Disney trips. I don't remember any restaurant not having a vegetarian option, and if what's on the menu isn't very appealing, the chef's always seemed more than happy to find something that would work (for example, at Spoodles the entree only sounded okay to me, so the chef put together a "vegetarian tour" which was basically a plateful of all of the sides.

My favorite Disney restaurant is Boma. It's kind of a pain to get to if you don't have a car, but it is soooo worth it. I also had excellent meals at Le Cellier (yes...a steakhouse!) and Coral Reef. My favorite counter service restaurants are Columbia Harbour House at MK (great hummus sandwich and veggie chili) and Tangerine Cafe at Epcot.

Have a great trip!

Thanks! Do I need to make reservations? We are going in June.

If you are going to Disney in June it is highly suggested to make reservations for your Table Service meals. Actually it is suggested any time of the year, but June is one of the busy season times so it is definately a good plan to have reservations.

The veggie sandwich at Tusker House is gone???? Oh crud. That was soooo good! What a bummer.

I'm vegetarian and have always hated that Tusker House veggie sandwich. It sounded so good and even on the focaccia bread, it was just soggy and icky - I even tried it again in case the first had just been sitting around. Never again. LOL

I will second the vote for CHH, though. That sandwich/chili combo was just excellent and I am really looking forward to it when I go back.

One other vote.... when we did Lunch with an Imagineer at the Brown Derby and the chef made me a special dish since the set menu was all meat-based. It was a coconut-crusted Asian tofu dish. Let me tell you, I HATEHATEHATE tofu and this dish was really good. I suspect that most places will be able to do something similar if you don't see something on the menu.

Mama Melrose also had a nice penne in tomato-vodka sauce. Mmmmmm.

Enjoy!

Another vote for Columbia Harbor House's vegetarian chili and lighthouse sandwich, and Tangerine Cafe.

For sit down, I would recommend Boma or Le Cellier. Awesome food and vegetarian options there!! Also, Wolfgang Puck's Cafe at Downtown Disney. Loved the veggie sushi, and the butternut squash soup. Lots of stuff on the menu that looked delicious. Brown Derby at MGM Studios is great; they can make the Cobb Salad without meat, and they also have a good vegetarian entree.

As other posters have said, Disney is very accomodating as long as you let them know what you like and don't like and what you can and can't eat. And don't be afraid to try new things and food combinations!

I agree, the veggie sandwich at Tusker House (in the pita) is not good. It has a strong flavor of Kalamata olives, which I do not care for at all!
