going in January

We are planning a trip in January (2 girls, mom, dad). My wife called the travel agent to get some pricing. The agent told her to wait, Disney will be offering packages in a few months. The deals will be much better. She said Disney buys blocks of airline tickets and combines them with hotel and park passes. We went 2 years ago in Jan. and purchased everything seperately. I didn't think we did bad (plane from Milwaukee, WI about $230, Pop $65 per night, and reg. price Park Hoppers). Has anyone experienced these Disney package deals? Should we wait? Plane tickets seem to be going up. Do the Disney packages make you include things we may not want (waterpark passes or other things).
Any info. would be appreciated.

I booked a complete package through Disney just once. Then I found out how easy it was to do it all myself...air included. I think I was just about the last person on the planet to book airfare on-line!!! I don't think the airfares through Disney's packages are all that great but I could be mistaken. I don't know how they could possible buy 'blocks' on the different airlines, since there are soooo many fligths coming in from all over the planet. I would think it would be next to impossible for them to do that, but again, I could be wrong.
I think you did just fine all by yourself!!! Some decent prices you had there. If Disney does offer a package you might be interested in, it most likely won't include air!

Never booked a package before...since we always stay offsite. But...I have never ever saved money with a travel agent. If you are willing to do a little internet legwork on your own, you can find great deals out there. Plus ...you can then get the flight times you want.

You can also book a Disney resort room now to hold your space and then apply any discounts you may find when the new rates are released.
